Everything moved in slow motion. Thor watched himself get off the ground and run towards Thanos. Just before Thanos snapped, Carol grabbed the gauntlet. She ripped it from his hand, and placed it on her hand. Thor watched the power of the Infinity Stones flow through her, and realized what it would do.
"NO!!!!"
Carol turned back to look at Thor, fear flowing through her eyes.
"Don't do this!"
"It's the only way..."
Carol landed on the ground, ready to end the Mad Titian's plan.
"Destiny still arrives."
"I'm sorry...I'm a badass."
Carol smirks at Thanos, who was staring at her with glaring eyes.
"Carol, if you do this it could kill you."
"Could it though?"
Carol looked at Thor, who was standing right behind her. He placed his hand on her shoulder, which sent the power of the Infinity Stones through him. Quill knew what they were doing, so he joined them. Within a few minutes, all the Avengers stood in front of Thanos, letting the power of the stones flow through them.
"In the end, there will always be someone to beat the evil."
"Dread from it, run from it, but destiny still arrives."
"Let's kill him properly this time."
Thor gave Carol a determined smile, and turned back to Thanos. Carol looked at him, with nothing but hatred in her mind. She snapped, and a white flash blinded her vision.
"Carol? Can you hear me?"
She blinked her eyes a few times, trying to regain her vision. She saw a blur of color, but couldn't make out the shapes. Her entire body felt tensed and relaxed at the same time.
"Carol!"
She closed her eyes, and tried to focus on the voices. She could make out Thor's voice, but that was about it. When she opened her eyes, she saw Thor staring directly back at her.
"Can you hear me?"
"I can't feel my body."
"You're alright! I thought the Stones has killed you."
"Everything is numb."
"Can you move anything?"
Carol attempted to move her arm, but nothing happened.
"Nope."
She laid on the ground, watching the sky clear of smoke. Thor sat next to her, placing his axe on the ground.
"Do you need some help?"
"No, no, no. I can do it myself."
"Are you sure you don't need help?"
"I'm sure."
Carol started to gain feeling in her arms, so she pulled herself up from the ground. She wasn't able to stand, and didn't even try to get farther then a sitting position.
"Is he dead?"
"Yes. I made sure he isn't able to come back from the dead."
"How's everyone else?"
"Fairly well."
"Where is Chris?"
"With Harley and Kate."
"My plan actually worked."
"Your plan always works."
Thor brushes Carol's hair away from her face and smiled.
"New York looks like hell."
"This was worse than Loki."
"This will take ages to fix."
"Tony could probably fix the city given a few months."
They sat there watching the rest of the group go back to the compound. Odin and Frigga decided to go to New Asgard, which made Valkyrie happy.
"I'm glad it's over. I was exhausted halfway through."
"I am drained of my energy."
They both laughed, earning confused looks from Steve and Bucky.
"Do you need some help standing up?"
"Yeah probably."
Thor helped Carol up, and they both walked to through the portal Dr Strange had made.
"Home sweet home. Never thought we'd be back here."
"We got lucky."
When they got to the meeting room, Tony was explaining the aftermath of the battle.
"Welcome back you two. Glad to see you aren't dead."
"You too."
"Back to New York, most of the city was either leveled or just destroyed. I talked with Dr Strange and he said a time reverse would fix it in a few hours."
"Can we all agree to not do that again?"
"Yeah."
"Oh Thor. I have great news for you. I am helping you improve New Asgard. It is too small to fit all of Asgard, so I added a few things to it."
"Thank you for helping my people."
"I have nothing better to do."
Thor rolled his eyes and stared at Carol. She smiled at Tony's comment and left the room. Thor followed her to their room, and looked out the window.
"We both look like shit."
"It's just a little dust." Thor teased.
"With the occasional concrete crumb."
"That too."
Thor looked at himself in the mirror, seeing what the battle did to him. His entire face had scratches all over it. A couple of bruises and cuts lined his arms, complimenting the caked blood. His hair was messed up with a layer of dirt.
"Thanos really did mess up your good looking face."
"He's the dead one."
Thor removed his damaged armor, which needed a replacement. He had deep gashes littered on his torso, some which were still bleeding. He grabbed a cloth, dampened it with water, and placed it on the wounds. It stung a little bit, but he ignored it.
"How's your arm?"
"Probably broken. He hit it pretty hard."
"It'll heal in no time."
Carol smiled at him, and continued to clean herself up. She took a long shower, scrubbing the dirt and mud out of her hair. Her arm still hurt from the Stones, but she didn't care much. When she got out, Thor was still cleaning his face up.
"These are going to be there for a while."
She smiled at him and found an outfit that was fairly comfortable. She heard Thor turn on the shower, smiled, and looked at her phone. The news was going crazy about the battle.
"Have you seen the news. They are going crazy about Thanos and how he got dusted."
"I chopped his head off twice."
"The first time wasn't really a win."
"Cause you weren't there."
Thor sat down and joined her looking at the news.
"When did Deadpool ever kill Ultron?"
"He didn't even help us until we had to kill Galactus."
"The news people are a bunch of liars."
"Welcome to Earth Sparkles."
He smiled and kissed her on the forehead. She curled up in his lap, listening to his calm breathing. Thor covered him and Carol up, and took a very long nap.
