Chapter 9

Thor watched Thanos run towards him. He swung his sword at him, but Thor dodged it. After getting smacked in the face, Thanos used his sword again. Thor was getting concerned. The Avengers tried to stop him but were knocked away.

"Your greedy planet will end!"

"As long as we are here, it's not going to happen."

Thor hit Thanos again. Carol threw Mjolnir at him. Thanos still didn't stay down. Thanos grabbed Stormbreaker from Thor and impaled it in his chest. Thor screamed in pain. Carol hit Thanos away, and rushed to Thor. Thor stood up, still in pain, and summoned Stormbreaker. He swung it with all his energy and cut his head off.

"THOR! No!"

Carol watched Thor collapse on the ground. She placed him in her arms, trying not to cry.

"Thor, please don't. I can't do this without you!"

Thor watched Carol cry. He couldn't comfort her. He saw his life flash before him.

"Whoever shall posses this hammer shall have the power of Thor."

"I like this one."

He stared at Carol. He managed to bring his hand up to her face. He smiled weakly and kissed her. She was shocked, but still cried. She kissed him back which made him smile.

"Please don't go!"

"I....I always wanted to tell you this-"

"No, it's going to be okay. Please Thor."

She was sobbing, but Thor continued.

"I....love....you....Carol." Thor closed his eyes for the final time.

Carol couldn't take it. Thor laid in her arms, but didn't move. She tried to get him to wake up, but he didn't do anything. Steve tried to help her up, but she resisted. Carol was broken. She felt as if her world was ripped to pieces. She still held Thor's body in her arms. Steve managed to grab her in his arms. She was screaming and kicking, but Steve didn't drop her.

"No!! Let go of me!!!"

"Carol, calm down," Steve comforted, "it's going to be alright."

"Let go of me!!"

Carol was starting to get exhausted. Her voice was hoarse and dry. As Steve carried her away from Thor, the other Avengers picked Thor's body up. They put him in a Viking style boat, and sent it down the river. Heimdall shoots a flaming arrow at the boat. It spreads through out the boat as it leaves their view of sight.

"Do you think she'll be okay?"

"I am not sure. She looks devastated."

Bruce and Tony look at Steve, who gives them a concerned look. Carol had locked herself in her room, not letting anyone in.

"Carol open the door."

"Go away!"

"Open it now."

"Go the hell away!"

Carol's eyes were red, and she was shaking. Every time she closed her eyes, his face was there. It hurt her physically. She tried to fall asleep, but she couldn't get herself to do it. Goose slid under the door, and hopped up into her lap. Carol pet Goose, but didn't smile.

Fury met with the Avengers to find a solution about Carol. He didn't like that Carol was in pain, but refused to show any emotion.

"Rogers, Stark. Have we even tried Goose?"

"Yes, but it failed. Losing Thor was her breaking point. It doesn't seem like anything will work."

"Well, we need to come up with a plan."

As they planned something, Peter snuck right past them. He slowly opened Carol's door. He looked in, but found nothing. He searched the room but Carol has left.

"Uh, guys we have a problem."

"Not now Peter, the adults are conversing a plan."

"Carol's gone."

Tony froze. Where did she go? How did she sneak past everyone? Tony ran around the facility looking. He warned everyone, who immediately sent out a search party.

Carol was panicking. She saw New Asgard in the distance. As she landed, Valkyrie met up with her.

"Where are you going?"

"No where."

Carol ran past her, heading for Thor's house. She ripped the door open, scaring Korg and Meek. She went to Thor's room and shut the door. She fell on Thor's bed, out of energy. Carol cried for hours, until she fell asleep.

"THOR NO!!"

She watched Thanos stab Thor in the chest. He screamed in pain, but continued to fight him. When he had killed Thanos, she watched him collapse.

"No! Don't do this!"

Carol woke up crying. She looked beside her and found nothing. She started to have a panic attack, everything around started to go blurry. It kept getting worse. The pain. It wasn't stopping. She held her head, hearing noises from everywhere. Everything was so loud. Her heart was beating out of control, and it didn't seem to slow down.

Valkyrie ran to the cabin after Korg had called her about Carol. She opened Thor's door, and found Carol in the fetal position, crying. She went over to her, and tried to get her breathing normally.

"Carol, calm down. Follow my breathing," Valkyrie calmly said, "Breathe in, and out. In and out."

Carol finally managed to calm down, but didn't move from her spot. Valkyrie was afraid, and contacted the Avengers.

"Steve, I need assistance now. Carol is having a panic attack. I don't know what to do."

"Hold it. Tony is coming your way."

She heard the sound of Tony's suit in the air. She ran outside, meeting Tony on the lawn.

"She's in there. But be careful."

"Okay, we need something calming. Do you have anything?"

"No, the only thing we have is beer."

"Okay I'll improvise."

Tony grabbed his phone, and went to Youtube. He pulled up calming waves and played it.

"FRIDAY, what's her heart rate?"

"120 beats per minute boss."

"Okay, FRIDAY, set up senses overload protocol."

"Done."

The windows has dimmed, as did the lights. Tony sat in the chair watching Carol. She had fell asleep again. She moved slightly, but seemed calm. He made sure that if something FRIDAY would alert him.

"Boss, she is showing signs of distress."

Tony had woken up to FRIDAY's voice. He got up from the chair, and sat by Carol. He shook her, trying to get her to wake up.

"Carol, come on." He whispered.

Carol sat up immediately, looked at Tony and started to back away.

"Carol, calm down. It's just me Tony."

"I don't know who you are."

"It's me, Tony, your friend from the Avengers."

Carol started to get lightheaded. Her head was throbbing with pain. She held it with her hands, hoping it would help, but it made it worse. Tony noticed it, and grabbed noise cancelling headphones. He put them on her, and she started to ease a little bit.
