“So, are you going to the party tonight?” Asked my best friend since forever, Abby Heisslar, “I don’t know, what if I see Jack there?” I said, I really don’t want to see my ex-boyfriend at a party my friend will practically be dragging me to even if I say no. “I doubt he will be going, and if he is at the party just stay by me.” Abby said in an attempt to make me feel better.
“What if there are drugs or alcohol there?” I saw Abby roll her eyes, “Ugh, you need to relax. You never do anything fun, you are literally always reading, writing or studying. Always busy, Just come with me and have a nice night with your best friend.”
By this time I knew I had no hope. “Fine, I’ll go” I sighed as Abby nearly squealed with excitement. “Okay but we have to get you the perfect outfit.”
“Um, what’s wrong with this?” Abby looked at my outfit which consisted of light washed jeans, black combat boots, black bomber jacket and a black band t-shirt. “Are you kidding me, you are not wearing that to this party.” We were best friends but had totally different styles. She was more girly, dressy, and classic, mine was more chill with a slight edge, but could be dressy at times.
“Abs, whose party is it anyway?”
“Don’t worry about it, you will have fun.” I sighed and we walked off to class, walking away from our lockers. We went to English, my favorite class. I always try to pay attention in class but today it got hard.
The teacher was talking about some books we have to read this month. I really didn’t care, I was too busy wondering how tonight will go. I started to get an odd feeling in my stomach, It felt as if my stomach was doing flips. I sat there in class waiting for the bell to ring so we could go to lunch. I started to pay attention again. When the bell rang, Abby met me by the door, since I was the last one to get my stuff. “What took you so long?” Abby asked as we linked arms, heading to lunch. We got our lunch and went to our table, I told her about the feelings I had during class.
“You’re probably just nervous, I mean after all, this is your first ever highschool party.” I sighed “I guess you’re right.” I looked over randomly “Aren’t I always.” we giggled then finished lunch. After lunch we sat by our lockers, me reading and Abby talking about the party. I put my book down, and waited for the bell to ring. I really didn’t want to go to the party, I was trying to find out why every time I think about going I get the feeling. Was it because I'm going out of my comfort zone? I guess I'll have to go in order to find out. The bell rang and I left for my next class.
Lord I can’t wait for this day to be over. I had math, then science, then I had history, and then I can go home. Before I knew it, I was already in history. I sat there waiting for the bell to ring yet again. I always hated history, science and math. I never understood it all that well. The bell finally rang and I rushed out the door and to my locker. I quickly got all my stuff and left for the bus. I waited for Abby to get on the bus, when she finally did all she talked about was the party and how ‘cute’ I have to look. I just want to stay in with a good book, or Netflix.
It was Friday which meant weekend sleepovers. This weekend I was staying at Abby’s house, her parents were never home so we could do whatever we wanted to. We got to her house and went up to her room. “Abbs, where are your parents?” I said putting my long blonde balayage hair into a high ponytail. I was originally a brunette. “Oh, they’re on a business trip. They won’t be back until next week.”
“lovely” I whispered hoping she wouldn’t hear. She started purging her closet for clothes to wear to the party.
She pulled out a purple mini dress and looked at me, I shook my head no. “ Jeans please” I said “But the purple will bring out your green, hazel eyes.” I shook my head ‘no’ again. She pulled out black ripped skinny jeans, black converse, a black cardigan, and a white tank top since it was October, “See Abs, now that is why you are my best friend. You know my style” I hopped off the bed “You mainly own black.” She said handing me the clothes and I went to change. She curled my hair, and did my makeup, she went simple. After she gave me a complete makeover, she went to change. And do her hair and makeup as well.
She curled her hair as well, and did her makeup more dramatic. After she was done we sat and talked until time for the party, the closer the time got the more I got the feeling, I just pushed it off to the side. It was time to leave for the party, we got our belongings and got in the car. “Hey Abs, who’s party is it?” I asked again “ I told you not to worry about it. You’ll have fun I promise.” Promises are meant to be broken.
