After the party I stayed at Rick's house. I woke up with a pounding headache. Rick’s house was big, but I knew the house like the back of my hand.  I went to get some aspirin, and looked around the house for Rick. I found Emma’s phone and thought she might have left it. I got out my phone and called Abby. “Hello,” she said wondering why I was calling her. “Hey, have you seen Emma?”

“No, I thought she was with you.” she said. I started to worry. “She isn’t, do you know where she could be?” I asked her to look around to see if she was in the house.  “She might be with some guy.” she said, sounding annoyed.

“Well why would Emma leave her phone at Rick’s house.”

“Maybe they’re hooking up, like I've been saying for months.”

 “What do you mean?”

“She was nervous about you being there, so I told her if she wants to make you jealous, hook up with Rick. She’s probably fine. Besides, Rick is a good guy.”

“So you told the one person I actually care about to hook up with my best friend to make me jealous?”

“Yes I did, and looks like she listened.” She said, I was filled with  rage. I hung up the phone and called Rick. “Hello”

“Where are you”

“At the store, why?”

 “I was just wondering.”

“Okay, bye” He hung up the phone, I wondered where Emma was. Emma wouldn’t hook up with someone, just to make me jealous, she had always disliked Rick a little. So that theory was a lie. But Emma was so nervous when she came back from the bathroom, she was more ...aware.

I thought of where she could be, I got my keys and went to the library, then the lake. She had always loved the lake, it always helped calm her. She wasn’t at the library nor the lake. I was getting really worried. I ran back to my car and went back to the house. Rick was sitting on the couch flipping through the channels. I looked over to see grocery bags. “Where did you go?” he asked looking at me. “Uh, I went for a drive. I Needed to clear my head.” I said not wanting to tell him the truth.

I need to find her. “Have you seen Emma?” I finally said. “Uh, no not since the party, why?”

“Well her phone is here but she’s not. Did you notice her acting weird or different last night?” I asked. “Now that you mention it, she was hitting on me a lot, but I told her off and told her  that you were my best friend and I would never betray you.” he said and smiled at me. I smiled back, not buying it. Emma would never flirt with him, but he would flirt with her. I tried to stop thinking about it, but it seemed impossible. About thirty minutes later I decided to head home.

I grabbed my jacket, keys, and Emma’s phone. I headed home after saying bye to Rick. I had an unsettling feeling as I left.  But I just pushed it aside. I got home and went straight to my room. I nearly had a panic attack getting more and more worried about Emma. I tried thinking good thoughts, but something told me she was in a terrible place. She isn’t home, at the library, lake, or with Abby. I need to find her, I have to know if she’s okay.
