I didn't know how to help Emma, I felt horrible. I had no other emotion, she's probably blaming herself. I couldn't deal with her feeling what happened was her fault. It wasn't her fault, she didn't ask to be kidnapped. She didn't ask for any of this.
"Hi, detective porter, this is detective Hughes, Special Victims. We just got Emma's statement, and we would like to ask you some questions." Porter said walking up to me as if she knew me. "So what can you tell us about Emma, how she thinks, her personality, anything." Hughes said "Emma had always loved mystery. She always knew things about the law, we would always have arguments or debates about random crimes, she would always win." I said "What happened the night of the party, October fourth." Hughes said. "I had a drink, Emma came up to me, around ten or so she asked me where the bathroom was, I showed her then went back to where I was. When she came back she was more on edge. I asked her, 'What's wrong?' but she wouldn't tell me." I said the detectives wrote something down.
"Was Emma drinking any alcohol?" Porter asked. "No, she had punch. After about two glasses of punch she felt dizzy so I helped her on the couch. About an hour later after everyone started to leave, I didn't see her after that, I thought she left with Abby. But the next day I found her phone. So I called Abby to see if she was with Emma, and she told me that she might have finally done what she'd said. I asked her what she told her, she told me that Emma was worried that I'd be at the party, so Abby told her to hook up with Rick to make me jealous. I knew Emma wouldn't do that, she always got a bad vibe from Rick." I said,
They continued to ask questions about what happened after that. I told them everything I did in order to find Emma, Including when she shot Rick. "Alright, Emma didn't tell us she shot him." Hughes said. "She might have thought she'd be in trouble, although she actually wanted me to take her to turn herself in, she feels really guilty." I informed the detectives. "Well if it was self defence, then she wouldn't be in trouble." Porter said. I got a phone call, and was told to put it on speaker.
"Hello" I said into the phone. "Hey bud,you really thought your little whore, could kill me."
"Rick?" I questioned. "Yep, I'm alive, I'd keep a really close eye on your girl, I'm coming for revenge, and I'll bring some friends next time." He hung up after he said that. "Next time he calls, I want a trace on that phone." Hughes said. Porter nodded, "alright, we'll be in touch with you, and Emma, we have what we need." Hughes said turning away "wait, there's something else." I said grabbing their attention. I handed them the flash drive, "Now you have Visual Evidence." they nodded and left.
I went back into the room to see Emma shaking and crying. She tried to hide it but failed. I rushed to her to try to comfort her, but she flinched back and started saying things, and apologizing. I tried to convince her that I wasn't trying to hurt her. I finally got her to calm down, but still kept my distance. I hated myself for scaring her but I had to remind myself that she just had a flashback. Her mental state will probably only get worse before it gets better.
"Are you hungry?" I asked, realizing we only had breakfast and it was now one in the afternoon. She shook her head, "Well I am, so I'll be back." "okay" She whispered. I left to get food, I got her some food as well, she hasn't eaten in a while, I hated leaving her alone, so I tried to hurry. I got the food and went back to the room. "Hey, got food." I said, "I'm not hungry." I sighed.
"Em, you haven't eaten in a while, please try to eat something." I pleaded hoping she would eat. "Fine." She said quickly. I handed her the food, we started eating while having some small talk. Once we were done the nurse came to check on her. "When can we go?" Emma asked. "We'd like to keep you overnight, you should be good to go home tomorrow." the nurse said walking out. "D-Do I have to go h-home?"
"Em, you have to go home at some point, your parents are going to find out you're in the hospital and safe. Why don't you want to go home?" I said hoping to finally get my answer. "I-I just don't want to." she said quietly. "Emma, why not?"
"I just don't want to go home." she said. I decided to drop the subject.
"You need some sleep." I said "I don't want to go to sleep." she said quickly. "I'll be here when you wake up. Promise." she laid down and closed her eyes. After a while she was finally asleep.
