We were in the middle of a movie when the police called my phone, I was confused at first. Detective Hughes wanted me to come down to the  station to answer some questions. “Can I bring Emma?” I asked.
“Yes actually we have some questions for her as well.” She said,
“Okay” I hung up and told Emma we had to go. I knew she would be nervous, yet I didn’t know what to do about it.

Once we got there I noticed her tense up. I hated putting her in this position. We got out of the car and walked into the police station. Detectives Hughes and Porter took us to the SVU department. Detective Porter took Emma to an office  while I went with detective Hughes.
“Do you know anything about Emma, or have anything that may benefit this case?”
Now’s my chance.  “Yes, I got her to tell me what happened, in detail. But she didn’t know I recorded it.”
“Can I listen to it?” she said unsure if it would be okay. “Yea.”

I pulled out my phone. And some headphones, just in-case she wanted them. She took them both and I played Emma’s story for her. A few minutes later she took the headphones off, and looked at me. “This is more than enough evidence plus with what we already have, I just want you to tell me everything you know about Emma, meanwhile detective Porter will get Emma’s written statement, and some follow up questions. Alright?” I nodded. “So, what can you tell me about her home life, her relationship with her brother, sister, mother, father. Anyone within the household.”

“She has a close relationship with her mother, and sister. As far as her brother and father, I wouldn’t know; She never talks about her brother or father.” I noticed her expression change when I mentioned her father and brother. “Do you know if she has been in any traumatic or difficult situations?” She asked, “Do you mean like sexual situations?” she nodded saying “yes.”

“Other than the issue with Rick, she has been sexually harassed and assaulted many times by guys on the football team, and ex-boyfriends.” I said, She wrote it down, taking notes, before resuming to ask me questions.
“Do you know if she has ever done drugs or drank alcohol frequently?” She questioned. “No, she always hated that, she couldn’t understand how people could do that to themselves.” I said,
“Do you know if she has ever had suicidal thoughts or actions.”
“No, I wouldn’t  we grew apart when we broke up.” I said softly, yet again regretting ever leaving her. “Can you recall any moments with her to where she may have  given off a vibe, or any action she reacted odd to.” she said.
“Thinking back now, I snuck up behind her one day and she jumped, and took off to class. Then when I asked her about it, she didn’t want to talk about it.” I said, “That’s all for now.” I nodded and got up and left.
