It was now January 12th of 2020. Detective Porter and I were going over old case files when we came across something interesting. “Porter, look at this.” she came over and looked at the paper I was holding, we were shocked to find out what we did. I got up, heading to our boss’ office. Informing him what we found.
“You know what you need to do.” He said, grabbing his coat heading out for lunch.
The rest of the day we tried coming up with theories. “We have the DNA and fingerprints, it should tell us which one of our theories are true.” I said walking over to the case file.

A few hours later, when the work was done, we went home, still starstruck with the evidence we found.

The trial, for Emma, and her father, was pretty soon. I decided to check up on her, see if she’s up for a few last minute questions. I called her in, she showed up with her mother, sister, and Jack. We needed to interview all of them anyway.
Emma had been getting so much better, with everything; I was afraid she would relapse, so to speak. Go back to the way she was before, shy, sheltered. “Hey, glad to see you’re doing better.” I said as I guided her towards a room. The Prosecutor attorney was there as well, to get her story, and prep her for what the defence would say.

Although none of us were ready for the trial, we helped each other through it.  “Ms. Dawson, please tell the court how old you are?” She said, pacing back and forth. “16.” Emma answered.

This will be tough, but I know she can handle it.
