Detective porter and I were out eating lunch, there wasn’t much to do. Once we were done we headed back to work. We saw a couple with a worried look on their face. “Hello, how can I help?”
“My son, I want whoever killed him put away.”
“Okay, why after so long?” I asked “ It took a while to process.”
I looked at her. “Porter, come here.” I said, “Excuse us for a moment.”
“They want Rick’s killer put away. It was self defence. Plus this can’t go to trial on count of him being dead.”
“So what? Want us to invetigate his murder? We know what happened.” She said, We went back to them. “Who killed him?”
“We can’t release that information.” I said, “We are the parents, we have a right to know.”
“Yes, I suppose you do.” I looked at Porter. They knew what happened. “Whoever he allegedly kidnapped, is lying he didn’t have a mean bone in his body.” The mother said,
“Evidence says otherwise. A girl he went to school with is the one who was taken.” I paused for a moment. “What does she claim happened?”
“Rick, kidnapped, beat, sexuallly assulted, sodomized,  and raped her multiple times. He also abducted her sister and beat and raped her as well, he abducted her sister as a way of punishing her for telling. She managed to get the gun, after he threatened to kill her sister. He attacked her and she shot him twice.”
“No, No, she’s lying, he would never hurt anyone.”
“Ma’am evidence says otherwise. He also recorded it as well. I’m sorry for your loss.”
“Thank you.”
They walked out. “Do you think they’ll find out who killed him?”
“Yea, if they can’t get it from us, they’ll get it from the people he was closest to.”
I sat at my desk, pondering on the thought of, if they would do something once they found out who killed him.
