I can’t live with knowing Emma is missing, it was a Monday, so I had school. I didn’t really want to go, but I had to. I haven’t been eating much, or being myself. I left for school and went through my day. I noticed Rick wasn’t in school today. I decided to call him to see where he was, “ Where are you?”
“yea man i’m sick” He hung up the phone. He’s lying.

I got called up to the office to find Emma’s dad there, waiting. “Hey, Jack, have you seen Emma? she didn’t come home.”  You just noticed? She’s been missing for three to four days. “Uh, no not since friday at school”
“Well we talked to Abby, and she said she might be with Rick, whoever that is”
“Rick is my friend, he isn’t here. I just talked to him to see where he was, he said he was sick. He kept his location on so I looked on life 360, to see where he was but he had no signal and it showed he was home.” I said, “You can go” I left to go back to class.

The bell rang, letting us know that it was time to go home.
I went to my car, turning up the radio. I went to Rick’s house, I opened the door and saw him on the couch. “Hey, I was just thinking about how I’ve never seen the basement here. Can I check it out?” I asked, thinking Emma might be down there. “Sure.” I went down the basement stairs,  and looked around before turning right. I used the flashlight on my phone, and looked in every room.

“Didn’t find what you were looking for.” I heard Rick say. “I don’t have her, this place is a storm cellar. If I did have her why would I put her here.” He said, “ Because I've never been in here.”
“Do you hear yourself? You sound crazy.  Accusing your best friend of kidnapping your lover. I don’t have her. But I Know who does.” He said getting my attention. “Who?”
“I can’t say.”
“Why not.”
“He said if I tell anyone he will kill me,”
“At least tell me if she is okay.”
“She’s fine.”
“She was kidnapped from your party.”  I said, “ Yea I know. But listen she’s fine, she’s alive. That’s all that matters.” He’s lying “Okay” we walked back upstairs.

I left to go back home and do homework, which was kind of hard when the one person you ever truly cared about is missing. All I could think about was Emma and the way Rick acted, he was so defensive about it like he had something to hide. Which worried me even more. I’m trying to be strong for her and find her quickly. Why would someone kidnap someone from a highschool party? No adults were there.

Thoughts continued to fill my head. I felt alone, probably like Emma at the moment. Feeling the same pain she is. It was an agonizing pain.
