The next morning, Katara and I went to the water pump to fill up on water with her, while she was done I did the same, picking it each up, we spot Haru's mother standing with her back to her, gazing toward the distant ocean. Haru's mother slowly turns around, laying a tearful gaze upon us. Then we realizes Haru has been taken Katara drops the pot, as it shatters to pieces at her feet.

"They took him!" Katara said as we ran to the barn "They took Haru away!" "What?" Aang said confused? "The old man turned him in to the Fire Nation, typical," I said folding my arms looking away, "It's all my fault, " Katara said tears forming on her eyes"I forced him into earthbending!"

"Katara, it's my fault too, stop beating yourself up about it," I said, comforting her, " Slow down, Katara."  Sokka said as he comforts her as well, "When did this happen?"

"Haru's mother said they came for him at midnight," Katara said, "  Then it's too late to track him, he's long gone." Sokka said looking far into the distance, "We don't need to track him." Katara said as she turns defiantly to the open door, fists clenched, "The Fire Nation is going to take us right to Haru,"

"And ... why would they do that?" asked Aang confused, "Yeah, where are you going with this," I joined

" Because they're going to arrest us for earthbending" Katara said turning her attention to me. Aang and Sokka share a horrified look, while I nod my head in agreement. A few hours later Sokka, Katara, and I  pushed a boulder overtop an air vent on a rocky road.

" I thought you two were crazy at first, but this might work. There are ventilation shafts throughout these mines. All Aang has to do is send an air current from that vent to this one right here. The boulder levitates and ta-da! Fake earthbending," Sokka said,

"Practical and simple," I said folding my arms with a smirk, "Aang? Did you get all that?" Katara asked Aang who was distracting himself with a butterfly, "Sure, sure. I got it." Aang said dismissively, "Do you remember your cue?" Sokka asked,"Yeah, yeah. Just relax. You're taking all the fun out of this," By this, do you mean intentionally being captured by a group of ruthless firebenders?" Sokka asked Aang in annoyance, "Exactly! That's fun stuff!" Aang said,

"Well, at least he's optimistic," I said to Sokka, just then a group of firebenders with spears approach, "Here they come! Get in your places!" We scrambled in our places, Katara Sokka and I make a show of walking into one another by their stomachs.

"Get out of my way, pipsqueak" Sokka said dramatically, "How dare you call my friend a pipsqueak, you giant-eared cretin!" I followed, "What did you call me?" Sokka said angrily hunched over, " A giant-eared cretin! Look at those things! Do herds of animals use them for shade?!"Katara said as she imitates elephant ears, "You two better back off!" Sokka said towering over us, "Seriously, back off. " We will not back off! I bet elephants get together and make fun of how large your ears are!" I said as I angrily towered over him,

"That's it! You're going down!" Sokka said pointing at us, "I'll show you who's boss!" Katara said,

"EARTHBENDING STYLE," We said in unison clenching our fist upward to which there is no reaction, "I said, EARTHBENDING STYLE," suddenly the rock began to levitate, finally, but it showed Momo with his hands upwards, "That lemur! He's earthbending!"

"No, you idiot, it's the girls!"Sokka said angrily waves his arms toward us, "Oh. Of course." said the guard bashfully, Sokka steps beside us, laying his hands on both of our shoulders as the boulder falls to the ground, "I'll hold them. You've got twelve hours to find Haru," he whispered, "We'll be right behind you," "Got it," I replied, The guards escort us away, leaving Aang, Sokka, and Momo to watch as we take a final glance back. They placed us on a ship with other prisoners, men and women, they gave us a brown worn prison garb, and there it was the Fire Nation rig, a tall building in the middle of the ocean, my heart sunk, this is unnatural I thought, people who can't have free will to use their abilities are taken to who knows what with the fire nation, fear turned to anger, boiling hot through my veins, we finally arrived and was each ordered to line up to meet the warden,

"Earthbenders," he said smugly, "It is my pleasure to welcome you aboard my modest shipyard. I am your warden. I prefer to think of you not as prisoners, but as honored guests. And I hope you come to think of me as your humble and caring host,"  Ha! Over my dead body, "You will succeed here, if you simply abide-" The warden was suddenly interrupted by a prisoner in line coughing. With no forewarning, the warden leaps into the air and aims a blast of fire at the prisoner's legs in anger. The prisoner cowers away for safety as the warden stands defiantly toward the man, "What kind of guest dishonors his host by interrupting him?! Take him below!" he said as he motioned to the guards, "One week in solitary will improve his manners,"  He continued "Simply treat me with the courtesy that I give you and we'll get along famously." the warden said as he approached Katara and I, kneeling to stare into her obstinate expression. She crosses her eyebrows, scowling coarsely at the man, while I looked at him in disgust, "You will notice, earthbenders, that this rig is made entirely of metal. You are miles away from any rock or earth. So, if you have any illusions about employing that brutish savagery that passes for bending among you people forget them. It is impossible. Good day," He said as he walked off to do his other duties, "You people? "I thought out loud,

A guard escorts the prisoners into the prison courtyard. Katara and I entered last and the metal gates close behind us. Among many earthbender prisoners, Haru takes notice of us. "Katara and Amaya?" "Haru," Katara said excitedly as we ran to him and gave him a hug, "What are you doing here?" Haru asked,

"It's our fault you were captured. We came to rescue you," Katara said, "So, you got yourself arrested?" Haru asked, "Well, technically, we caused a fake fight using fake earthbending but here we are," I said, "It was the only way to find you." Katara added,

"You two got guts," Haru said "I'll give you that" I blushed, " Come on. There's someone I want you to meet," Haru said, he took us further where an old, gray-bearded man is eating dinner among other prisoners, "Katara and Amaya. This is my father, Tyro. Dad. This is Katara and Amaya," "It's an honor to meet you," said Katara as she and I bow slightly, Tyro handed us both a bowl, "Have some dinner, girls," Tyro said cheerfuly, I accepted it, but the odd looking soup turned my stomach, "It's not as bad as it looks," We tried to put a spoonful but becomes further disgusted, I mean really, it smelt like rotten eggs mixed with spoiled milk, Gross! "It's still pretty bad though," Tyro said chuckling softly, "Tyro. The prisoners are complaining there aren't enough blankets to go around," said one prisoner, "I'll talk to the guards. In the meantime, make sure the elderly are taken care of. The rest of us will simply have to hope for warmer weather," I frowned, clenching my fists on my knees, "If you don't mind me asking, what's your escape plan?" Katara asked, "Excuse me?" Tyro said his eyebrow raised, "You know, the plan to get everyone off the rig? What is it? Mutiny, sabotage?" Katara asked.

" The plan? The plan is to survive. "   Tyro said as he placed his bowl to his side, "Wait out this war. Hope that one day some of us can get back home and forget this ever happened,"

"So what you're saying is that you don't have a plan?" I asked? "So basically-" "You've already given up!" Katara joined, "Katara, Amaya, I admire your courage. And I envy your youth. But people's lives are at stake here. " said Tyro "The warden is a ruthless man, and he won't stand for any rebellion. I'm sorry, but we're powerless,"

"We'll see about that," Katara said, she carries a trash can lid and a ladle and climbs on top of a wooden table. From there, she bangs the ladle against the lid to draw attention, the prisoners halted from what they were doing.

"Earthbenders! You don't know me, but I know of you. Every child in my Water Tribe village was rocked to sleep with stories of the brave Earth Kingdom, and the courageous earthbenders who guard its borders," "What is she doing?" Haru said, "Shhh," I said wanting to hear more, Katara continued, "Some of you may think that the Fire Nation has made you powerless. Yes, they have taken away your ability to bend. But they can't take away your courage. And it is your courage they should truly fear! Because it runs deeper than any mine you've been forced to dig, any ocean that keeps you far from home! It is the strength of your hearts that make you who you are. Hearts that will remain unbroken when all rock and stone has eroded away. The time to fight back is now! I can tell you the Avatar has returned! So remember your courage earthbenders, let us fight for our freedom!"

Katara's speech is met with utter silence and leaving her to fall into sorrow as she realizes the muted answer she receives, I quickly rush by her, "It's okay Katara we'll think of something," I reassured her.
