At Full Moon Bay
"I can't believe how many people's lives have been uprooted by the Fire Nation," Katara said, as we walked past tents of refugees, "We're all looking for a better life, safe behind the walls of Ba Sing Se," Than informed.
We stopped by the ticket place, while a middle-aged woman angrily processed tickets while scolding someone, "I told you already ... no vegetables on the ferry! One cabbage slug could destroy the entire ecosystem of Ba Sing Se! Security!" A platypus bear destroys the cabbage cart and munching on the cabbages.
"Ahhh! My cabbages!" said the merchant as he was carried away by security.
"Wasn't that the cabbage guy from Omashu?" I asked,
"Eh, beats me," Sokka shrugged.
"Next!"
Aang sheepishly walks to the ticket lady.
"Um, four tickets for the ferry to Ba Sing Se, please,"
"Passports?"
"Uh ... no one told us we had to have passports,"
"Don't you know who this is? He's the Avatar!" Sokka said as he placed a hand on Aang's shoulder.
"I see fifty Avatars a day and, by the way, not very impressive," the ticket lady said unimpressed, "Besides, no animals allowed. Do I need to call security?" The platypus bear chomps down on the cabbage. Momo hides in fear.
"That won't be necessary,"
"Next!" yelled the ticket lady.
"I'll take care of this. My name is Toph Beifong, and I'll need five tickets," Toph said as she presented her passport.
"Ah, the golden seal of the flying boar! It is my pleasure to help anyone of the Beifong family," ticket lady bowed respectfully.
"It is your pleasure. As you can see, I am blind accompanied by my maid servant, and these three imbeciles are my valets," Toph said, presenting us to the hesitant clerk.
"But, the animal-"
"-is my seeing-eye lemur,"
"Well, normally it's only one ticket per passport, but this document is so official ... I guess it's worth four tickets," she said as she stamps the five tickets.
"Thank you very much," Toph said, grabbing the tickets.
"All right, we scammed that lady good!"
Suddenly, a security guard grabs Sokka; I stopped and looked.
"Tickets and passports please,"
"Is there a problem?" Sokka asked, "Yeah, I got a problem with you! I've seen your type before. Probably sarcastic, think you're hilarious and let me guess, you're traveling with the Avatar,"
Wait, is that?
"Do I know you?"
"You mean you don't remember? Maybe you'll remember this!" the guard kisses Sokka.
"Suki!"
"Suki?" I asked as I ran towards them, pushing Sokka out the way.
Suki then did exactly what I was expecting; she wrapped her left arm around my head, and with her right knuckle, rubbed my head.
"You thought you could get away, huh?" Suki jested.
"I guess not," I admitted in defeat.
Later, we went to the waiting station, not far from the docking area.
"You look so different without your makeup! And the new outfit," Katara said,
"That crabby lady makes all the security guards wear them. And look at you, sleeveless guy. Been working out?" Suki said to Sokka, "Ahhh, I'll grab a tree branch and do a few chin touches now and then. Nothing major," he replied, I rolled my eyes.
"Are the other Kyoshi Warriors around?" Aang asked, "Yeah. After you left Kyoshi, we wanted to find a way to help people. We ended up escorting some refugees, and we've been here ever since," Momo jumps up next to Suki, "Hi, Momo! Good to see you too!" she said, scratching his ear, "So why are you guys getting tickets for the ferry? Wouldn't you just fly across on Appa?"
"Appa is missing. We hope to find him in Ba Sing Se," I said as I looked to Aang, "I'm so sorry to hear that," Suki said, " Are you doing okay?" Suki asked.
"I'm doing fine. Would everybody stop worrying about me?" Aang asked in frustration.
"Avatar Aang, you have to help us! Someone took all of our belongings, our passports, our tickets. Everything's gone!" Ying said while her husband comforted her.
"I'll talk to the lady for you," Aang said.
A few moments later, Aang came back, rubbing the denied mark from off his arrow, "Don't worry, you'll get to the city safely. I'll lead you through the Serpent's Pass,"
"I can't believe we gave up our tickets, and now we're going through the Serpent's Pass," Sokka whined, "I can't believe you're still complaining about it," Toph replied,
"Well, desperate times call for desperate measures, I suppose," I said, Toph giggled, while Sokka gave an icy look in my direction.
"I'm coming too!" Suki said, running out in her Kyoshi uniform.
"Are you sure that's a good idea?"
"Sokka, I thought you'd want me to come,"
"I do, it's just–"
"Just what?"
"Nothing. I'm glad you're coming,"
After a few hours of walking, we made it to the serpents pass.
