"There's the intruder!"
I shot up from the old mat I was sleeping on. Then quickly rushed out to meet the two siblings surrounded by a number of spear-wielding Fire Nation guards.
"Stay back!" Sokka warned "I'm warning you!"
"Katara, stop! You can't win this fight!" Tyro yelled,
"Listen to him well, child," the warden said with a smirk, "You're one mistake away from dying where you stand," Suddenly the ground started to shake then the ventilation shaft bursts off its hinges as an immense blast of coal soars into the air, crashing down into a gathered pile. Everyone present is silent, staring in stark surprise at this turn of events. Then Aang leaps out from the barren ventilation shaft, landing atop the coal pile and coughing, covered in soot and dirt, Katara runs up to the coal, "Here's your chance, earthbenders!" she said taking a coal from the pile,
"Take it! Your fate is in your own hands!"
Haru bolts ahead without hesitation, prepared to bend the waiting coal as a weapon. Tyro throws his hand up, bracing his son's chest to halt his advance.
The warden bursts out laughing
"Foolish girl. You thought a few inspirational words and some coal would change these people? Look at these blank, hopeless faces. Their spirits were broken a long time ago. Oh, but you still believe in them. How sweet. They're a waste of your energy little girl. You failed,"
The warden finishes his speech by turning to take leave of the facility. As he does so, a single piece of coal sails through the air and pelts the back of his head. Outraged, the warden spins back to see who dared to attack him. Haru stands defiantly levitating three pieces of coal above his hand.
The warden sends a blast of fire toward Haru, Haru looked at the incoming fireball. Not knowing what to do.
"NOOO!!" I cried as I closed my eyes and lunged both of my hands in front of me. I opened them and saw that I've raised a wall of coal in his defense. Katara, Sokka, and Aang were astonished, especially Katara. I looked down on my hands. Did I do that? I thought, just then fire nation guards line up and prepare for battle,
"Show no mercy!" the guard cried, The guards send a blast of fire as one toward the rebelling prisoners. The earth benders work together to haul a sizable mass of coal to block the fire. "For the Earth Kingdom, attack!" cried Tyro. Slamming the coal to the ground; chunks of rock assault the guards. The battle immediately flares, prisoners ducking blasts of fire and countering with fists of coal. Tyro and Haru work in unison to compress gathered coal into one lump, slinging this through the doors to make way for their escape. The guards on top fall down. "Get to the ships! We'll hold them off!" I looked at Haru, as he was busy bending his defense, He turned, "Go Amaya, I'll meet you there," I nodded and quickly catch up with Aang, Sokka, and Katara, Aang then generates an air funnel and holds it between his hands, " Guys! Throw me some coal!" we then dropped heaps of coal into his funnel, firing the material with rapid speed at the warden and his fellow benders, knocking them to the ground, Tyro and two other earthbenders work together to lift coal beneath these adversaries, moving them away from the rig and over the ocean, " No, please! " begged the warden "I can't swim!"
"Don't worry. I hear cowards float." Tyro says before he drops them into the ocean, On the barge,
"Okay am I crazy, or did you just earth bend?" Katara asked in amazement, "How did you do that?"
"I-I don't know, when I saw that Haru was in trouble I just, you know, did it," just then Aang, Sokka, Momo, and Appa pulled beside the ship, "I'm going to meet Aang, you coming?"
"Be right there," I said,
Haru and Tyro approached me on its deck. "I want to thank you for saving me. For saving us." Haru said, "And thank you for helping me find my courage, Amaya of Kyoshi Island. My family and everyone here owes you much,"
"You don't owe us anything, as long as you fight for justice, there will always be peace," I said holding Tyro's hand. "So, I guess you're going home now? " I asked
"Yes. To take back my village. To take back all of our villages!" Tyro replied as he turned to the many earth benders on other ships, "The Fire Nation will regret the day they set foot on our land!" the crowd roared in agreement. " Come with us," Haru implored to me, "I can't. Your mission is to take back your home. Mine is to get Aang to the North Pole," I watched the group Katara chastising Sokka for whatever reason, while Aang is playing with Momo.
"I'll miss you Amaya, " he said while he embraced me with a hug, "I'll miss you too, and when you do take your home back from the fire nation, take my necklace," I unlatched the necklace from around my neck and give it to him, "Remember me." Suddenly Haru cupped my left cheek and leaned forward in a kiss. I was shocked at first, then I kissed back cupping his cheek, when he pulled away I was completely dumbfounded. My first kiss! With a real boy! I thought to myself, "So is this goodbye?" I asked, "I guess so, your friends are waiting," he said with a smirk. I looked over and see my friends again, who would've thought that just 3 days ago they've came to Kyoshi Island, now we've bonded like we were lost sibling. I hugged Haru one last time, and went on Appa.
