Summer walked out of Nick's air bnb like a prisoner set free from her cell. She took in the fresh air & took a deep breath. She quickly got in her car & locked the door. She didn't know how to go about Nick's threats. Should she call her agency & talk to her boss about how Nick was abusing his client privileges? She thought about how he could literally use anything against her. Should she call Nat & ask for help & risk ruining their brotherly twin bond? She was fearful for what he may do to her. Even if he said he wouldn't hurt her, she couldn't trust him. She called her secretary & asked for her to send files of Nick's past sessions with the other counselors. All she had to do was wait. She had a bad feeling about Nick, but she decided to keep him in a good mood, she'd play along with his little game, but had to come up with a plan of attack.
The next day, Serena & Summer visited Baby Miranda so that Grandma could prepare for her side of the responsibilities for the shower. Jack was so supportive as he helped Grandma run errands all over town. Serena wasn't suspecting a thing, so their plans for a surprise were a success so far. Summer & Serena both had a good time catching up & mending their sisterly bond. Serena admitted to Summer for feeling jealous over her move to Virginia & had apologized for not keeping in touch with her. Summer accepted her apology & was also sorry for not being more helpful through Serena's tough pregnancy & breakup with Bennet.
Serena: There I go again unloading everything on to you. I'm sorry.
Summer: Don't be sorry. We've all been going through...something. I know it seems like I've had it easy, but to be honest with you, it's been difficult too.
Serena: Really? But you always seem like you've got it all together. Your killing it in your IG posts.
Summer: Serena, social media is everyone's highlight reel. It was hard moving to Virginia after having lived in Seattle all my life. I only got to spend a couple weeks or so with Jay before he had to deploy. And that's been the hardest thing right now.
Serena: Do you miss him?
Summer: Everyday... and it doesn't get any easier.
Serena: Hang in there.
Summer: Thanks. We'll get through this.
Serena: And thank you for coming with me today.
Summer: I wouldn't be anywhere else.
Serena & Summer walked into the nicu wing & saw all the tiny babies. They walked passed a few rooms until they got to Miranda's room. She was fast asleep. Summer peered into her little crib. Miranda was a wearing a pink onesie & was wearing the cutest little socks. Summer looked over at Serena & smiled.
Summer: She's so precious... You made that.
Serena: I know.
Serena smiled in knowing that as much as she was a single mother & a teen mother at that, that Miranda would have so many people in her life who would love her.
Summer: Hey, you have to hurry & get out of this place so that Aunt Summer can take you to the mall.
Nurse Dana: Serena? I'm sorry to bother you.
Serena: Oh hi, Dana. You're not bothering at all. What is it?
Nurse Dana: Not sure if you remember, but a month ago, you signed up for a new parenting class.
Serena: Oh my gosh. Yeah, yeah, I do remember. Is that today?
Nurse Dana: It's starting in the next 5 minutes. Were you able to make it?
Serena looked at Summer.
Serena: Um, can my sister come with me?
Nurse Dana: Not for this class. I'm sorry about that.
Summer: Don't worry about me. I'm actually gonna try to contact Jay.
Serena: Ok, I guess I'll see you when it's done.
Nurse Dana: It'll be about a half hour.
Summer: Ok, I'll see you later. I'll just be in here.
Serena left for her parenting class & Summer stayed behind to continue fawning over her niece. Summer peered over the crib for a couple more minutes & then sat down on the rocking chair in the corner. She pulled out her phone & looked up Jay's number.
In the parenting class, Serena walked in awkwardly. She wasn't prepared & felt out of place as a single mom walking amongst the couples. The only seat available was at the very front. The instructor directed her to walk to the front & of course everyone's heads turned as she did. She smiled & walked to the front & sat next to a young man. The instructor gave the class a few minutes to get to know those around them before he started the lesson.
Serena: Is someone sitting here?
Antonio: You are.
Serena: Thanks.
Antonio: I'm Antonio & you are?
Serena: My name is Serena.
The instructor then began his class. He talked about the after care of when you bring your newborn baby home. All of this was helpful for Serena. She knew she'd have help from Summer & Grandma, but there was nothing more daunting to her than bringing a baby home. After class, she & Antonio talked & got to know each other. They totally hit it off as they had so much in common. Coincidentally, Antonio's son, Manuel was also in the nicu. They both walked & talked as they headed back to the nicu wing.
Meanwhile, Summer was back in Miranda's room & was able to get through to Jay.
Jay: Hey baby!
Summer: Hi Jay!
Jay: I miss you!
Summer: I miss you more.
Jay: Where are you right now?
Summer: I want you to meet someone.
Jay: Oh...
Summer turned her phone towards Miranda's crib.
Jay: Who do we have here? Oh, Summer. She's adorable.
Summer: This is Miranda. Miranda, this is your uncle Jay.
Jay: Hi baby. Hope you get to go home soon. Can't wait to meet you soon.
Summer turned the camera back towards her. Jay was relieved to tell Summer that he would be stationed in Hawaii for the next month & then they would have one more tour to the Middle East.
Jay: So I bought tickets for you to come see me. I hope that's ok. I just really need to see you, babe.
Summer: That's more than ok. I want to come & see you...
Jay: Great, I'm glad. I hope you're doing ok.
Summer was thinking about Nick & wondering if she should tell Jay. There was obviously nothing Jay could do about it while he was deployed. She didn't want to worry him & fought so hard on telling him everything about Nick. It's not that she was intentionally keeping it from him, it's just that she didn't think he could handle the news right then & there. They eventually said bye, but not before Summer showed Miranda to Jay one last time.
Jay: I can't wait to see you soon, baby. Can't wait until you're in my arms again.
Summer: I can't wait either.
Jay: I love you, Summer.
Summer: I love you, too.
