Summer slowly stood from her little corner in the closet. She's been hurt before but not like this. Her heart was broken & her body was bruised. How could someone who claimed to love her hurt her in that way?

It was still early & Jay was still asleep. She knew his alarm would go off anytime & so she wanted to leave the house before he woke up. In fear for her well-being, she quickly grabbed a bag of things of any necessities in sight & headed out. Her face was still tear stained & she was still wearing the clothes she wore the day before. She was in her car & felt safe inside. As she started driving off, she looked at the house in her rear view mirror. The house didn't look as bright or happy as it did the first day she came to live with Jay. She didn't know where to go. She just drove.

Every action she'd take next would have a great consequence. Should she go to the cops & report domestic violence? That would risk Jay losing his job & possibly serving time in jail. Should she go running to Dennis? She did want to be with him. But on the other hand she didn't want to introduce him to all her problems in fear of scaring him away. What about her friends? Krystal had so much on her plate with her kids. And Nat was preparing for his own wedding. Just then, her phone rang. It was Nat.

Nat: Morning, bitch! So what happened yesterday? Why were we together the whole day again? What'd you do?

Before Summer could reply, she broke down in tears. She had to pull her car over because her vision had become blurry from the tears. He tried to console her as best he could. He was having a hard time understanding her through the phone & through her crying. By the sound of her shaky voice, he could tell she was in distress. He told her to come to his house. All that she asked was if George was home. Nat said he was getting ready to leave, but should be gone by the time she got there.

Summer parked her car & walked up the stairs to Nat's apartment. She was still sore & had to take a break walking up. She knocked on his door & leaned against the door frame. Nat opened his door & his jaw dropped at the sight of Summer. She looked so disheveled. She was always put together & never had a hair out of place.

Nat: Babe, what happened? Come in. Come in.

Summer fell into Nat's arms. Nat closed the door behind them & brought Summer to the couch & held her while she cried. She didn't say a word. She only continued to cry. Nat offered her tea, water or rosè. She refused. After a while, Summer removed her jacket. Her arms & neck were exposed. Nat looked at all the visible bruises & was afraid to ask the question,"What happened?", but he did. Summer nearly broke down while explained to Nat what Jay did to her. Even if she described every detail, she was still defending him in a way.

Nat: Honey, this is no way to treat a woman or anybody. It doesn't matter if he was drunk or not. I'm not going to let him hurt you anymore. You stay here as long as you need.
Summer: I can't hide here forever.

The two continued to talk & discuss some options for what Summer's next move should be. Nat was annoyed that Summer was still protecting Jay. Summer finally brought up Dennis & how he was in town to see her.

Nat: Summer, I'm going to tell you this because I love you. You have to leave Jay. Enough is enough.
Summer: Everything is complicated.
Nat: Uncomplicated it. Jay might seem to have some kind of power over you, but you have power too. You have the power to walk away.
Summer: I don't know...
Nat: What are the odds that this Dennis guy is in town? He was brought here by fate to rescue you. Don't you see it?
Summer: I'm beyond being rescued, Nat.
Nat: No, you're not.

Nat continued to try to convince Summer to leave Jay. Summer interrupted Nat with a phrase he wasn't ready to hear.

Summer: Nat!
Nat: What?
Summer: I might be pregnant with Jay's baby.
