Serena headed straight for the couch & sat into its sinking seat. She stretched out her arms & tilted her head back.

Serena: It feels so good to be home.
Summer: You just rest & let me know what I can do. You want a foot massage? You want a cup of coffee? Or tea?
Serena: Summer, Summer... I'm fine. I just really want to sleep in my own bed.

Serena sat up & got off of the couch & started walking upstairs. Summer remained at the bottom of the stairs.

Summer: Ok, I'll just be down here if you need anything.
Serena: Oh actually there is one thing.
Summer: Yeah.
Serena: Brian is stopping by to give me a couple things from class. Probably homework. But um, if you could thank him for me.
Summer: Of course. By the way, how are things with him? I know you kinda dated his brother... so that must've been awkward.

Serena sighed.

Serena: He told me that he loves me.
Summer: Oh ok. That sounds like a long story that we can save for later.
Serena: Yeah, to be continued.
Summer: Ok, go get your rest.

About an hour later, Summer sat down on the couch after she did some loads of laundry for Grandma & Serena. And just as she sat, there was a knock on the door.
Summer: Brian...

Summer got up & walked to the door. She opened it & saw Dylan. Both froze at the sight of each other. It had been months since they've seen each other. Dylan noticed Summer had gotten a new hair color. Summer noticed Dylan got glasses & grew out his facial hair. Both spoke simultaneously to break the awkwardness.

Summer: You got glasses!
Dylan: You colored your hair!
Summer: You look good.
Dylan: Thanks, you look great yourself & happy.
Summer: I am happy. Thanks. Um, did you wanna come in?
Dylan: Oh, I uh... just brought these over for Serena. Book from Brian. And congrats by the way. To uh Serena for the baby. I saw some pictures on Instagram. She's super cute.

Dylan hands over a bag of books to Summer for Serena.

Summer: Thanks, yeah she sure is. We're just hoping she'll get to come home soon.
Dylan: I bet. Well, let us know if there's anything we can do to help out.
Summer: Thanks, that's really thoughtful of you.
Dylan: Yeah, hey look. I uh gotta go, but it was really nice seeing you. How long are you in town for?
Summer: I'm here for a week.
Dylan: Nice. Well, we should get together for coffee or cinnamon rolls or something.

Summer smiled thinking how sweet it was that he remembered how cinnamon rolls were her favorite.

Summer: That'd be nice. Take care, Dylan. Thanks again.

Dylan walked down the steps back to his car. He turned & waved before getting in.

Not long after, Jack came over to drop Grandma off. It was the cutest sight. Summer peeked at the window while they were saying their goodbye. Jack lingered as he & Grandma stood in front of each other holding hands. Summer smiled to herself just seeing her Grandma smile. They talked for a bit then eventually Jack gave her nose a little Eskimo kiss & then she headed inside. Grandma quickly came to the window to watch Jack get back in his car, she continued watching him drive off like a love-sick school girl.

Summer: Oh Grandma...
Grandma: Oh don't "oh grandma" me.
Summer: I think it's cute.
Grandma: Oh really?
Summer: Really.
Grandma: Where's Serena?
Summer: She's resting upstairs.
Grandma: I have the best idea. I thought of it while Jack & I had a little stroll through the river park. I was watching the ducks & saw a mother duck with 2 baby ducklings waddling right behind her. We should have a baby shower for Serena.
Summer: That's a great idea! When?
Grandma: Tomorrow!
Summer: Tomorrow?! Grandma, are you crazy?
Grandma: A little bit.
Summer: How are we gonna pull of a shower in one day?
Grandma: We'll keep it simple & lowkey. It'll be casual. We can have it here.
Summer: Simple? Lowkey? Grandma, when have you ever wanted a simple party? Remember for my 10th birthday & you insisted on having 10 ponies come to the backyard for a live carousel.
Grandma: Oh the carousel! I almost forgot about that.
Summer: Grandma, it was unforgettable! The neighbors complained when the horses trampled all over their lawn. It was a disaster. Not to mention that one horses who ran off.
Grandma: Oh my! That was a sight to see. The owner was furious. I think I really pissed him off. Anyways, baby shower. Let brain storm for a couple hours. We have Jack & your friend who flew with you. What's his name? They could help us buy stuff & pick up food & what not.
Summer: Grandma, he's not my friend. He's my client.
Grandma: Oh & we also have Brian. And... well, is Dylan gonna be a problem.
Summer: No, he's not gonna be a problem.
Grandma: Ok, well, there we go. Let's get brainstorming.

And with a sigh, Summer agreed to help plan for the last minute shower. After an hour of planning, they came up with a theme, decor ideas, guest list & menu. Summer was relieved when Grandma agreed to have it in 3 days. It was far better than doing it the next day.
