Brian & Serena's first official date took a turn at the end of the night. Grandma's call rushed then couple to the hospital & caused both of them to worry for Miranda's well-being. Serena finally found Grandma & Jack in the waiting room. Serena felt helpless & panicked & could barely keep her body up. She felt like collapsing. She fell into her Grandma's arms & began to cry.
Grandma: We're going to be fine honey. Just take a few deep breaths. Tom is in there with the team of doctors. They're running tests on Miranda right now.
Serena: How is she? She must be so scared surrounded by the faces of strangers.
Grandma: They had to put her under. She's completely fine. It's a low dosage & the doctors said the complications for these tests are little to none in Miranda's case.
Serena: Case?
Grandma: They think Miranda may need a blood transfusion.
Serena: Well, bring me in. I'll give her my blood now.
Grandma: Honey, we have to wait for the test results. It's also not likely you're a match with her.
Serena: Match?
Jack: Your blood types.
Brian came into the waiting room & walked towards Serena. She ran into his arms & he comforted her as she sobbed into his shoulder. Tom came out to the waiting room & was greeting by eager stares & high anticipation for some good news. Unfortunately, he did not have good news. He had the test results & a solution. Tom pulled Serena aside & explained the process they had to take now. Serena asked Grandma to come along.
Grandma: She has anemia?
Tom: It's a rare case, but the best solution for Miranda is a blood transfusion.
Serena: Ok. Well, am I a match?
Tom shook his head.
Tom: I'm sorry Serena. Our records show that you're an AB+.
Serena: And Miranda?
Tom: Miranda is a B+.
Brian was seated next to Jack & could only hear bits & pieces of what Tom was telling Grandma & Serena.
He heard when Tom said Miranda's blood type. He stood & walked over to their small circle.
Brian: Tom, did you say that Miranda's blood type is B+?
Tom: Yes.
Brian: I'm a match.
Serena walked up to Brian.
Serena: Brian, you don't have to do this.
Brian: No, I do. And I want to.
Brian looked up at Tom with a ready look in his eyes.
Tom: Let's have you take a couple tests to see if you're fit to donate for the transfusion & then we'll get you set up if you truly are.
Tom: Grandma, can you please have Serena read & sign these. Brian, you ready?
Brian: Ready.
Tom: Everything's going to be ok.
Serena: Thank you, Tom. Thank you, Brian.
Grandma gave Brian a pat on the back. Serena grabbed Brian, whispered "thank you" in his ear & kissed his cheek. Tom led Brian inside the offices & got him started with the tests. Once the results came back, they showed that Brian was indeed the perfect match for Miranda's transfusion. After several hours, both Miranda & Brian were placed in separate rooms for recovery. The transfusion was a success!
