The next day, Serena slept in as usual. It worked out in everyone's favor. There was a lot that still needed to be done for the baby shower. Grandma, Summer, Jack & Brian had the whole house set up for the surprise baby shower. Brian had spent most of the morning in the nursery assembling baby furniture while Summer decorated around the room. Grandma cooked while Jack decorated for the shower. They got everything ready in time just as guests started arriving. The first to arrive was Dixon, Dylan & Michie.
Michie: Are you sure I'm welcomed here?
Michie stuck close to Dylan's side. She had still felt awkward about seeing Summer & her family. Dylan squeezed Michie's hand & reassured her it was fine that she came.
Dylan: Michie, it's all good. Don't worry.
Brian welcomed his uncle, cousin & Michie in & held a finger up to his mouth to signal for them to stay quiet. It seemed that Serena was still upstairs either sleeping or getting ready for the day. Michie set a gift on the gift table.
Summer: First gift of the day.
Michie looked up & saw Summer. She had a panic attack within herself. She forced a smile, but knew she probably looked awkward doing it. Summer walked up to Michie & hugged her. Dylan was relieved they were getting along. Dixon headed to the kitchen to avoid the awkwardness.
Dixon: I'm gonna go see if they need any help in there.
Michie: Um... The decorations are pretty.
Summer: Thanks, Jack, my Grandma's boyfriend, hung most of it up.
Michie: I see. Well, um. It's good to see you.
Summer: Michie, if this is too awkward, don't worry about it.
Michie: What do you mean?
Summer: This is awkward for me too.
Michie: It is?
Summer: Yeah. We can avoid the small talk if that makes you feel better.
Michie let out a sigh & a chuckle of relief.
Michie: Yes, please.
Both Summer & Michie share a moment of laughter.
Dylan looked at his ex-girlfriend & girlfriend in awe. He was glad they were getting along. He never thought they'd all be in the same room room together at once, yet here they were.
Within the next hour more & more guests were arriving. Brian rushed downstairs to let everyone know Serena was to come downstairs any minute. He knew her schedule to the T. The guests all hushed & waited for Serena. Just as Brian predicted, Serena came walking down the stairs.
Everyone: Surprise!!
Serena was all smiles & came walking towards everyone. Greeting them all with a hug or kiss. A few neighbors were there along with Dixon & his family, Michie, Jack & even Dr. Welling. Finally, Serena reached Grandma who was waiting with open arms.
Grandma: Surprise, sweetheart!
Summer: Wait a second... Did you know about this?
Serena: I didn't want to spoil it. I kinda found out about it yesterday. I was throwing something away & saw a receipt for baby shower decorations.
Jack: That's my fault.
Grandma: It's no ones fault.
Serena: And I'm still surprised. I didn't know it'd be today. I just knew it'd happen.
Grandma: She's still surprised, everyone!
Serena enjoyed talking to all the guests & catching up. She happily showed them all pictures of baby Miranda. Soon, there was a knock at the door. Summer's heart started to beat faster. Summer forgot all about Nick. And now here he was.
Grandma: Summer? There's a gentleman here to see you.
Dylan looked at the foyer & saw Nick standing there. Summer made eye contact with Dylan & then walked towards Grandma & Nick. She smiled & took Nick's hand. Grandma looked at their hands.
Summer: Grandma, this is Nick.
Nick: Hi Grandma, I'm Summer's boyfriend.
