"One More Visit"

Serena: I don't know what my problem is, Summer.
Summer: I don't know what your problem is either. Brian is such a good guy. He's responsible, he's thoughtful, he's affectionate...
Serena: And he's hot.
Summer: I'm not gonna disagree with you there.
Serena: I just feel like I'm not good enough for him.
Summer: What?
Serena: He has a good head on his shoulders. He needs someone who hasn't messed up in life.
Summer: Wait, wait, wait. Do you feel like you've messed up? How?
Serena: Summer, look at me. I haven't even finished my freshman year of college. I got knocked up before getting married. I'm living with my Grandma. He should be with someone who's got her life together.
Summer: But he's not. You know why? Because he loves you. He wants you, Serena.

Summer accompanied Serena to visit Miranda at the hospital one last time. Serena's last parenting class was also the same day. Serena was looking forward to seeing her new friend, Antonio. He was the only one she could confide in about being a single-teen parent. He understood her & she understood him. Summer & Serena walked in the nicu wing & were greeted by a few nurses in the hall. Serena knew all the nurses by name & even recognized a few of the other parents there who came to visit their premature babies. Antonio was sitting on a rocking chair holding his guitar & lightly strumming a lullaby to put his son, Manny to sleep. Serena brisket walked over to him. Antonio stood up, placed his guitar down & greeted Serena with open arms. Summer watched as the hug between the two was a lot longer than a hug between friends. She approached the two who were still arm in arm.

Antonio: How have you been?

Serena was immediately struck with Antonio's gray eyes, bright smile & Hispanic accent. He made her feel weak in the knees. She gazed up at him as she remained in his arms.

Serena: Better now.
Antonio: That's good to to hear. Are you ready for our last class.
Serena: I'm just ready to take my baby home & apply everything I've learned.
Antonio: Same here.

Antonio slung his guitar strap over & moved his guitar behind his back. He blew a kiss to Manny & whispered "mi amor". Serena admired Antonio in so many ways.

Antonio: Hi Summer.
Summer: Hey Antonio. Have a good class you guys.
Serena: I'll see you later, Sum.

Summer went back to the nursery & sat in Miranda's room & watched Miranda sleep. She sat on the rocking chair & thought about when she first heard the news of Serena getting pregnant & then remembered each milestone after.

Summer: Oh baby girl, we've loved you longer than you can even imagine.

Summer's phone was buzzing & she checked the screen. It was Jay!

Summer: Hi baby!
Jay: Hey sexy! What are you up to?
Summer: I'm visiting Miranda one more time. I'm leaving for Seattle tomorrow.
Jay: How's Miranda doing?
Summer: The doctors & nurses said she's gaining weight & she's set to go home in about a week.
Jay: Hey, that's good news.
Summer: Yeah, it is. I know my Grandma & sister are excited.
Jay: I know I'm excited to see my woman soon...
Summer: Aww, I'm excited to see you too, baby!
Jay: Ugh, I've been counting down the hours.
Summer: You have?
Jay: Yup! We only have under 100. We're in the double digits, baby!
Summer: Well, we have a lot to catch up on.
Jay: We sure do... There's a sweet beach house Ive rented out for us when you're here.
Summer: You're so thoughtful, Jay.
Jay: You're gonna love it. We can fall asleep listening to the waves. We can make out under the stars. It's super private & romantic.

Summer smiled just thinking about the beach house as Jay described it.

Summer: It sounds wonderful, but I really just can't wait to spend time with you.
Jay: Baby, I gotta go. I'm supposed to report in soon. I just wanted to hear your voice.
Summer: Thanks for calling, Jay.
Jay: Hey, I love you, Summer.
Summer: I love you, too.

Antonio walked Serena over to Miranda's room after their class ended. They were hand in hand & they gently let go as Serena walked inside. Antonio walked behind Serena & came in for a short time to say bye to Miranda & to Summer.

Antonio: She's all mommy. Muy bonita...

Antonio blew a kiss to Miranda & walked over to Serena, held her waist & whispered bye.

Serena: I'll see you tonight, Toni.

Antonio turned around & smiled.

Antonio: Can't wait. Hasta la noche.

Summer & Serena sang & talked with Miranda for a bit longer until she fell asleep. Serena kissed Miranda & then the sisterly lair left her room to head home. On their way out of the hospital, Summer couldn't shake Antonio from her mind. She was worried about Serena. And it was all too familiar this pattern Serena had with boys. She always got too close too soon.

Summer: So, what's tonight?
Serena: Hmm? What's that?
Summer: Oh I just remembered Antonio & you talking about something tonight.
Serena: Toni invited me over for dinner & to meet his grandparents.
Summer: I see. Well, did you forget that tonight is my last night in Seattle?
Serena: No, I didn't forget. Look, I thought we already had our sister time. We spent the whole day together your second day here & we spent all morning together today.
Summer: Well, then my bad. I guess that makes it ok then.

Serena stopped walking & the two were in the middle of the hospital lobby. People were walking in & out & passing them by. Families seated in the lobby chairs off to the side looked up as the girls raised their voices.

Serena: Can we not do this right now?
Summer: No! No we're doing this now & here!
Serena: Ok, fine!
Summer: Fine!
Serena: You're so selfish making everything about you!
Summer: Oh I'm selfish?
Serena: Yeah! It's always your way or nothing at all!
Summer: Really? Well, you're so inconsiderate!
Serena: Inconsiderate? How?!
Summer: Well, for starters, you're so ungrateful that I took time out of my schedule to fly up to spend a week with you.
Serena: Oh so I'm ungrateful now?
Summer: And you know what? Forget about me. How about Grandma? You're not even grateful for the countless hours she spent planning for your stupid shower.
Serena: I am grateful!
Summer: No, you're not! You never think about Grandma.
Serena: I do... I'm still here.
Summer: What?!

Serena was in tears as she spoke.

Serena: I'm still here. I stayed behind to help Grandma when you left us to go chase your dreams & live with your Prince Charming.

Summer was quiet & noticed the tears streaming down Serena's face.

Serena: I'm happy for you I am. Please don't get me wrong. But I am jealous that everyone has their happily ever after, but me. Don't I deserve a happy ending too?

Summer walked over to Serena & grabbed her & hugged her close. The people in that hospital lobby became a blurry background as the girls apologized & settled their differences.

Summer: You do deserve to be happy. I'm sorry...
