Plans for Jack & Grandma's wedding were underway. They decided to have a small, intimate wedding with family & close friends only. They would serve their favorite foods & favorite drinks. And the reception would be filled with singing & dancing the whole night long. They finally chose a date & June 26th was their final pick. Grandma had always wanted be a June bride & Jack honored her desire. He had always wanted to get married at the Edgewater Hotel since that is where he & Grandma Grandma enjoyed their first night of romance together. Grandma didn't care where they'd get married, just as long as they got married. As much as they accomplished a lot of planning on their own, they still needed quite a bit of help before their big day.
Summer kept busy helping Jack & Grandma with wedding plans. She went to every venue appointment & wedding dress shopping & fittings. On her list of things to do today was the food & cake tasting. She was in her element & enjoyed being in charge. Summer was in the dining room sipping on her morning coffee when Grandma came in & greeted her good morning.
Summer: Hello, bride-to-be!
Grandma: Goodmorning, Sweetheart... Jack & I are so grateful you set aside time to help us plan for our big day.
Summer: It's my pleasure. And besides, you know I love organization & planning things.
Grandma: I also know you don't work well with others.
Summer: Well then, good thing you only have one wedding planner.
Grandma: Actually, Jack's nephew is going to be in town for the wedding & he's coming in today from Tennessee. He'll be helping you with the planning. I didn't want too much on your plate.
Summer: No, no, no, it's not too much. Give me more. Honestly, Grandma. Please, I'm good.
Grandma: I would feel bad telling Jack's nephew he isn't needed.
Summer: Well, maybe he can usher & I don't know...pass out programs & bubbles?Summer turned around at the sound of Dennis cleaning his throat. There in the kitchen doorway stood Jack & his nephew, Dennis. Jack kissed Grandma & came over to hug Summer.
Jack: Hey, sunshine.
Summer: Hey Jack. You look great!
Jack: Yeah, Dennis took me to get groomed up after I picked him up from the airport. What do you think of your groom now, Nora?
Nora: Handsome as ever...Nora & Jack shared a sweet Eskimo kiss & Dennis made his way over to Summer. He stuck his hand out to shake her hand. His warm smile lit up the whole room & Summer couldn't help but smile back at him & return the handshake. She was still embarrassed at what she said.
Dennis: I'm Dennis, Jack's nephew. You must be Nora's granddaughter. I've heard a lot about you.
Summer: Yes, I'm Summer. What exactly have you heard?
Dennis: I heard you grew up right here in Seattle, but that you moved to Virginia?
Summer: Yeah, just this year.
Dennis: I see.
Summer: Where'd you fly in from?
Dennis: From Tennessee.
Summer: Well, that's nice of you to help out a little for the wedding.
Dennis: I'd like to think I'm contributing a lot more than just passing out programs & bubbles.Summer felt an overwhelming feeling of embarrassment. She was hoping that what she said earlier wasn't heard, but it was in fact heard clearly by Dennis.
Summer: Sorry Dennis, someone's gotta pass out the programs & bubbles.
Dennis scoffed & continued smiling.
Dennis: Heard you were feisty too...
Summer: Oh, this is nothing. The two maintained a strong stare down waiting for the other to break.
Grandma: Are you two ready? We were gonna take one car to the food tasting.
Dennis: Lead the way!Summer was sort of annoyed at Dennis's way of taking the lead. He just got there & he was acting like he was in charge. She didn't completely hate him because he did have a great smile. How could you hate that? Grandma & Jack we're seated at the front & Dennis was waiting next to the car holding the door open for Summer.
