Jack: Yeah, James is my son. Come on! Don't you see the resemblance? He's a chip off the old block.
Grandma: What a small world! I still can't believe the coincidence.
Serena: I'm speechless & hungry.
Doctor Welling: I'm about to take my lunch, how about we all go out on my treat?
Grandma: Oh we can't put you out.
Doctor Welling: No, please I insist.
Jack: Let the boy buy lunch.
Grandma: Sure. Where to?
Summer went to the nursery to meet Miranda. Serena led the way. She knew all the nurses & all the nurses knew her.
Nurse Dana: Hi Serena. Miranda just woke up so she'll be happy to see you.
Serena: Thanks, Dana. This is my sister, Summer.
Nurse Dana: Nice to meet you, Summer. Your niece is quite the cutie.
Summer: Oh I bet!
Serena & Summer wall into the nicu wing of the nursery & walked right over to Miranda. Serena picked her up. Summer was in love. Miranda had the cutest button nose & the perfect shaped lips. She inherited Miranda's straight, dark hair, the same hair that Serena & Summer both had.
Summer: I think I'm going to cry. She's perfect, Serena.
Serena: Thank you... Do you want to hold her?
Summer: Are you sure? She's so tiny.
Serena: You'll be fine. Here, hold out your arm in a cradling position. There you go...
Serena gently placed Miranda into Summer's arms. Summer was in awe.
Summer: Hey Miranda, it's aunt Summer. We're going to be the best of friends.
Serena & Summer smile at each other. They spent a few more minutes gazing into Miranda's little face & then had to go meet the rest for lunch.
At lunch, the group got to know more about Jack & James Welling. Jack had met Grandma just a couple weeks back while Grandma brought Serena to the emergency room. They met in the elevator. James had forgotten something & Jack came to the hospital that same day to drop it off. The conversation between Grandma & Jack started with an argument about Jack's shirt. He was wearing a Beatles t-shirt & they had been arguing about which Beatle's album had come out first.
Grandma: Twist & Shout didn't come out until '64. I remember because it came out about a month after I had turned 12.
Jack: No, that can't be. Twist & Shout came out the following year.
Grandma: You can't fool an old fool.
Jack: You sure look prettier when you're angry.
Grandma: Excuse me?
Jack: How about we catch a midnight movie?
Grandma: How about a rain check?
Grandma & Jack took turns telling their elevator story & you could see in both their eyes that they were in love. Grandma became a widow decades ago & Jack was a widower of 5 years. He thought he'd never love again, but he was wrong.
Doctor Welling: Yeah, dad talked non-stop about your Grandma. I thought he'd never stop talking about her.
Summer: I'll have to admit. I wasn't too excited when I heard Grandma had a boyfriend, but now that I've met you, Jack, I'm glad you're in her life. I haven't seen her smile & perk up like this ever.
Grandma: Oh Summer, you make me seem like I'm such a bore.
Jack: Don't worry, babe, I'll spice up your life.
Serena: Ok...
Doctor Welling: And on that note, I think I should be leaving.
Everyone leaves the table & heads to the restaurant's lobby.
Grandma: Thank you again for lunch, Doctor.
Doctor Welling: James.
Grandma: Thank you, James.
Doctor Welling: Bye ladies. Oh, Serena.
Serena: Yes.
Doctor Welling: I'll be sure to have my office call you if anything comes up & a possible earlier discharge for Miranda.
Serena: Thank you so much.
Doctor Welling: My pleasure.
