Seducing Alpha
Chapter 13
As Xavier and I sat in the large dining hall I couldn’t help but feel as if there was a spike of tension in the air. After the doctor had spoken to Xavier, he seemed angry. I didn’t want to say anything hinting as to what the doctor had told him, I was worried he wouldn’t tell me.
Without glancing up, I looked around. We were in the grand hall with a large table with at least twenty seats. I sat on one side while Xavier sat at the other side of the table, across from me. I was grateful to him for not sitting near me, having him so close made my mood swings go on a roller coaster.
I couldn’t help but look up again, his face was emotionless. Instantly I knew I had to keep my guards up higher than they were before. Masking my face just like his, I continued with my soup. The only sound to be heard throughout the room was me sipping on the lukewarm broth. After two more sips I knew my stomach wouldn’t be able to handle anymore even though I wasn’t even half way done with it.
I tried to make it obvious that I was done eating as I placed the hand crafted spoon on the table. Everything about Xavier’s place screamed that I did not belong. The walls were a deep maroon with paintings of what looked like former loved ones from the past.
The chandelier above us sparkled brightly with crystal adorned jewels. The silence was killing me. As I glanced up at Xavier for the third time since I had started eating, I found that he beat me to it. His silver eyes were focused intensely on me. Even as he sat almost five feet away from me I could see the calculated look in his eye.
The way we were seated reminded me of Beauty and the Beast. Except I wasn’t a beauty and Xavier was more godly than a beast. Just thinking about the way I must look in his perspective made me internally cringe. I must’ve looked pale and lifeless in his large sweater. I had nothing that would make any man want me in any way.
My biggest flaw and fear of Xavier seeing was my scars. The scars that bared my body were ungodly and too ghastly for even me to look at. It was the scars I had that put my mind out of its dreamland thinking up of a fairytale ending with Xavier. It’s far too unrealistic I thought to myself. A man like him would never want to be with a scared broken girl like me.
It felt nauseating, I felt like my little time of peace and happiness had finally gone. Clearly I was just a charity case. If not, a game I had accused of Xavier playing on me then it must have been a charity case. Pitying the poor girl who seemed clueless yet secretly knew the horrors of the wicked world. The metaphors kept piling up in my head.
I was the peasant and he was the king. I was the invading alien and he was the hero that pushed me away. I was the tragedy that was so close to death and he was the happiness that made life itself jealous with his glow. Yes he was mysterious and demanding, but he had people who cared while I counted down the days till my death. Hmm.
My mind came back to reality as Xavier cleared his throat. Suddenly there was a woman standing next to me. She had a modeling body with ample curves. I blinked as a starred at her revealing outfit. It seemed fit for a slutty maid as a Halloween costume. Her long locks of blonde hair fell down by her breast.
