"If Only I had stopped her. If only I had said No", saying this, he broke down, Zuhaan quickly went by his side and so did his daughters, "That night was the darkest night in my life", he said getting up from his place and walking towards the study, then he turned around and continued, "I lost my entire world just in a flash, my daughters, my wife and my mother. All gone", he said, then explaining the entire scenario of riot break down, death of Rabia and loss of his daughters. However, he then turned towards Zuhaan and Zaid and added, "But it seems that even God couldn't see me so broken", he walked to both of them, "He sent them". As soon as he said this, Shiza and Zuhaan looked at each other, then Parvez added, 'I was walking on the disastrous night, amidst all the riot, lost. Not quite a fan of life at that point, then I found them. These two. Zuhaan holding his 3 month brother in his arms, hiding under a bullock-cart", he said, "They saved me".
That was now clear, Zuhaan and Zaid were not his real sons. As much as both of them were hurt with this revelation, they were also relieved. Zuhaan and Shiza looked at each other with a sigh of relief. Shiza felt a sudden need to be by Zuhaan's side, he has just been given a large piece of truth. She went by his side and grabbed his arm, Zuhaan looked at her and turned around towards a no-person corner, Shiza turned around too. She knew what was happening, she knew why Zuhaan turned around. Zuhaan was crying. He couldn't stop his tears, so he turned around, so that no one could see him. Shiza hugged him as he cried. Zareen went to Zaid's side, as he had broken down too. She sat beside him and grabbed his hand and he cried. Zaid wasn't afraid of emotions so he cried without hiding them. Zareen held him softly as he cried, and rested his head on her shoulder and she comforted him. Parvez looked at them, then Shera quickly went by his side and said, "Abbu. Then?". He looked at Shera and then added, "I had nothing left of Rabia. Only a ring"
"Ring?", questioned Ashar.
"Yes my dear boy, a ring", said Parvez. Everyone looked at each other confused except Shiza. She already knew the ring story. Shabnam had told her. There were four rings Saba's father had got specially made; Rauf and her wife and Saba and his husband. Rauf got married first to Arfa Edris, Shabnam's daughter and Anjum's elder sister. The ring belonging to Saba's husband had a glitch; the ring's owner wasn't decided yet, so the ring was incomplete. Parvez took out the ring and showed it to everyone, "The only thing that I have of Rabia. That night she went to collect it from the jeweler, as the last wish of her mother". He then smiled and added, "That is all I know of her family, that her mother wanted her to have this ring. This is her ring". Shiza looked confused. She stared at the ring and then spoke, "Abbu can I have a look at the ring?"
Shiza took the ring in her hand and examined it. She turned it over and stared at it closely and then before she could say anything the front door opened with a loud bang and Rauf entered very anxious.
"He is here!", he yelled.
This scared the wits out of everyone, especially Shiza. Shera and Zuhaan's blood boiled. As soon as they proceeded towards the door, Rauf spoke, "He has a gun". Shera was quick enough to take out hers, "Shiza go up stairs, Mamu take her upstairs", said her. As Rauf proceeded Ashar offered to follow them and all three of them went. Shiza looked at Zuhaan and then Shera. She felt a pain, strange pain, like this was the last time they saw each other. She wanted to return back and stand with them, but she did not have to worry, she had two of the most trusted man of her life, with her. Shiza was in her room with Rauf and Ashar and everything was silent.
"Is there some water in the room child?", asked Rauf.
"No mamu, but don't worry! I'll get it!", said she.
"NO!", yelled Ashar, "You stay here with mamu, I'll get it"
Ashar went outside to take water, when lights of the entire villa went out. The villa was in dark, no one knew where Avaan was. He could be lurking anywhere. Ashar just stood still, he descended down the stairs, and tripped on Zaid, "Oh sorry". "Ashar? Where is Shiza?", questioned Zaid. "With mamu, I just came down to get some water when power went off", replied Ashar
