Kyle

"What are you doing here?" She asked me. Dala-dala niya ang isang bote ng wine at regalo for someone.

"Jake is not here. He's still at the hospital and he will be home late. What do you want from him?" I tried to be calm and normal when I asked her.

"Is that so? Bakit ka nga nandito? This is his condo, diba? And you also look familiar."

Ngayon ko nalang ulit nakita si Jane after so many years, after kasi nung nangyari saakin nung freshman pa ako bigla nalang siya nawala. Yung sabi-sabi nila noon nabuntis daw siya, sabi nung iba lumipat ng school and worst sabi nung mga haters niya na nagkaroon daw siya ng car accident tapos na paralyze. Pero seeing her now makes me wonder what really happened before at kung bakit siya lumipat ng school.

"I'm Kyle Castro, Jake's boyfriend." I proudly introduced myself to him.

"I see. Ikaw pala si Kyle." She smiled at me for a sec and then inabot niya saakin yung wine at paper bag.

"I think it's getting late and I have some errands to do pa. Can you give these to him? I will just message him na I can't meet him personally kasi nagmamadali ako. Pakisabi nalang na thank you sa lunch date kanina. Thanks!" Lunch date? Magtatanong pa sana ako pero huli na dahil nakaalis na siya.

"Luke? May tanong ako." I immediately called Luke.

(What is it?)

"Naalala mo pa si Jane?"

(Sinong Jane?) I am certain na naalala niya pa si Jane kasi siya nag introduce saakin about sakanya nung freshmen meeting.

"Jane, yung famous Jane na girlfriend daw ni Jake noong first year pa tayo." I don't want to mention it pero it's the only way for him to remember.

(Ahh yeah yung magandang Jane?)

"Yeah right. Pumunta siya dito sa condo ni Jake."

(What? Really? Paano niya nalaman yung address ng unit ni Ferrer?)

"Hindi nga din ako sure eh. Anyway, may narinig ka ba about her? Anything about her after nung nawala siya sa campus bigla?"

(As far as I can remember, sabi nung mga lalaki kong kabigan lumipat daw si Jane ng school nung magkasakit ang daddy niya at nung namatay ito siya na mismo ang namahala ng resort nila. I think the resort is far from the city at may malapit din na university doon.) Bakit hindi ko 'to alam? Lahat ng mga narinig ko about kay Jane ay puro negative things.

"Are you sure about that?" Mukhang kasalukuyang nagaaral si Luke dahil narinig ko yung video na pinapanood niya sa kabilang linya.

(Yes, I'm sure about it. One of her close friend confirmed the information. Ewan ko nga ba sa ibang tao don sa school nung time na 'yon, mostly mga babae yung nagpapakalat ng fake news at halatang gusto nilang siraan si Jane.)

"Why didn't you tell me about it?"

(Because I thought you wouldn't care kasi naman po happy na kayo ni Jake and there's no need for you to mind other people's business.)

"Okay sige, thank you. Bumalik ka na sa pag-aaral mo." I ended the call.

So busy na pala si Jane ngayon sa pamamahala ng resort nila at malayo yung resort dito sa city pero bakit bigla nalang siya nagpagkita kay Jake after many years?
