Jake

"How are you?" I asked the guy infront of me. He's younger than me, even younger than Kyle. Jane told to me to help this boy and set an appointment for him with my friend, Aiden.

"I-I'm fine." He answered. He is a shy person. Baka ganito siya sa mga taong hindi niya pa kilala.

"I'm Jake, Jane's friend." Inabot ko sakanya ang kamay ko.

"I'm Clark, Clark dela Merced." He's a dela Merced, huh? I never heard of his name and I didn't know about his existence until now. Kilala ko lahat ng miyembro ng pamilyang 'yon. The Ferrer family has always been a good friend to the dela Merced.

"dela Merced?" I asked. He just look at me in the eyes.

"I'm Alfonso's son." Alfonso? Hindi ko alam na may anak na lalaki pala si Alfonso.

"Well then, Clark right? 'Wag ka na mahiya saakin. I'm here to help you, Jane is a good friend of mine and she asked me to take care of you here." I smiled at him.

"Thank you, Jake."

"So, what do you think about his condition?" I asked Aiden. He is my friend from high school and he's a good cardiologist.

"He has a rare heart disease. This is the first time that I have encountered such disease."

"But you can treat him, right?"

"Of course. But I need him to cooperate. You see, depression and stress increase the risk of hospitalization and cardiac events such as chest pain, heart attack and even death. At sa tingin ko, the boy is prone to that because he is emotionally unstable."

"Really?" He seems fine to me, I thought he was just shy.

"He is not emotionally stable. There are things that he isn't telling people and he's keeping it deep down inside. These thoughts are slowly killing him, Jake."

"Ano'ng kailangan kong gawin?" Ilang araw ko nang kasama si Clark ngunit hindi ko alam na may nangyayari na pala sa isip niya, how can I be this insensitive? Jane entrusted her cousin to me dahil may tiwala siya saakin pero this is what I'm doing.

"You should talk to him. Make him feel like there's someone who will listen to him pero hayaan mo lang siya na sabihin sayo kung ano yung mga iniisip niya. In that way, gagaan yung loob niya. Make him happy and comfortable, Jake."

"Saan ba tayo pupunta?" Clark asked me. It's my free day and since Kyle is very busy with his academics, I decided to go out with Clark. Sa tingin ko kailangan niya ito.

"Somewhere." I answered. Habang nagmamaneho ako ay may napansin akong babae na umiinom ng pink milk sa labas ng isang shop.

"I miss Kyle."

"Po? May sinasabi ka?" I didn't expect that I said it out loud.

"Wala, I just miss someone." I answered him.

Ginagawa ko naman ang lahat para makapag-adjust ako sa sitwasyon, this was supposed to be my dream but why do I have this uncontented feeling inside me? I should be happy but I can't because I know that there's something lacking. Maybe because I just miss him, I miss his smile and his laughter. Namiss ko yung masungit na Kyle na naiimberna saakin kapag sobrang busy ako sa trabaho.
