Kyle

"Kyle, what do you want for your birthday?"

My parents and Michelle came home from their long vacation three days ago. My mom has been asking me about my plans for my birthday celebration tomorrow. I'm also not sure about it, I'm not really planning on throwing a party because my mind is preoccupied by a lot of things and doing so will make it worst.

"I don't know mom, I'm not sure if I want a party or just a simple family dinner." I answered her.

"Don't you think having a family dinner is too simple? We can throw a party if you want, I can call my friends to organize it for us."

"I'm not sure, mom. We can have dinner and I will just invite my friends. Just my friends, I think that'll do. Excuse me." I wiped my mouth and stood up from the dining table. I better leave because if I stay, my mom will do everything in her power to convince me.

"Where are you going? Are you done eating?" Mom asked, busy ang daddy ko kaya kaming dalawa lang ang kumakain sa hapag.

"I'm full. Mag-aaral na muna ako." Sabi ko.

I'm upset. Hindi kasi tumatawag si Jake saakin, tatlong araw na. Hindi din siya sumasagot sa mga messages ko. Wala din akong contacts sa mga kasama niyo doon sa hospital so I can't ask them about my boyfriend's whereabouts.

"Nakalimutan niya ba na birthday ko bukas? Why is he acting like a jerk? Damn him!" I shouted.

I received a message from Jeff saying, 'Advance Happy Birthday, Kyle!'.

"Isa pa 'to."

Biglaan kasi yung pagbabago niya, his treatment towards me suddenly changed after the event last week. Yung sinabi ko sakanya na bitawan yung mga bagay na nagpapabigat ng kalooban niya. What's wrong with that? I just want him to be happy with Samantha.

(What's up, bakla?) I called Chloe.

"Hindi na niya ako tinatawag na babe."

(Sino? Si Jeff? Aren't you happy about that?) Sa naririnig ko mukhang nasa Salon ngayon si Chloe.

"Masaya naman pero kasi hindi ako sanay."

(Hindi ka sanay? Ano bang nangyayari sayo Castro? Sure kang si Jeff yung dahilan ng pagdadrama mo diyan?) I didn't tell her that Jake stopped calling me three days ago.

"Punta ka dito sa bahay bukas, dinner."

(Anong meron?) I didn't answer. What do you expect from Chloe? Of course hindi niya matatandaan yung birth date ng mga kaibigan niya except for her derma-sched and beauty-chuchu.

"Wa—"

(I'm just kidding! Akala mo nakalimutan ko 'no?)

"Gusto mong sagutin ko yang tanong mo?"

(Chill ka lang, Kyle. Binibiro lang kita. So, anong theme ng party mo? Sabihin mo na para makabili na ako ng susuotin for your party.)

"Walang party. Just a fancy dinner." I said.

(What? Are you kidding me? Walang party for this year? Bago 'to ah. Anong nakain mo Castro?) Sunod-sunod niyang tanong. Probably because this is the first time in 5 years na hindi ako magho-host ng malaking birthday party.

"Trip ko lang. And Jake isn't around so there's no need to have a party." Before, Jake's the one who organizes my birthday celebrations. Kahit na kumukuha ako ng professional organizers, hindi siya pumapayag kasi gusto niya siya mismo ang magorganize. I even tried hiring one of the famous organizer but Jake cancelled it dahil baka daw hindi ko magustuhan.
