"Of course" he said his eyes never leaving mine. "Out" he said to Levy and Mira. They didn't hesitate to get out of their seats, they practically sprinted out the room not wasting any time. Right before she ran out Levy grabbed my hand and squeezed it.
"Why?" I asked as confusion crept across his face. "Why haven't you called? Why did you run away so fast after I made a stupid joke about Lillian? You could've at least gave me a hey I'm alive text but instead you want to ignore me for a little over 2 weeks and then make plans with Lisanna whose your ex by the way about me and my life, so I'm asking you why?" I said not letting him get a single word in.
"You look beautiful" he said.
"Really? That's all you have to say? Answer me dammit" I stomped my foot raising my voice.
"I'm sorry"
"Are you really? Cause if you were then the first thing you said wouldn't be about how I looked. By the way, you let yourself go." I scoffed, I stared at him in disbelief and walked over to his desk, I leaned on it and crossed my arms.
"Lucy, let me explain" he started
"Please, that's all I've been asking for" I threw my arms before returning them to the original position.
"About Lis and Mira, when I was younger my mom died and the first person to actually make me feel safe was Lis. She was my best friend and with Lis came Mira and Elfman, he never really liked me but that didn't stop the other two from being my friends. So as we grew up they got famous and I got rich, it was my publicist that made us get together." Natsu walked over and sat in the seat Levy was in.
"This still doesn't explain why you can talk to her and not me."
"BECAUSE I KNOW HER, I DON'T KNOW YOU" He yelled standing up from the chair.
"SO THEN GET TO KNOW ME" I yelled back, "YOU'VE KNOWN HER FOR SO LONG AND BUT YOU'VE ALSO KNOWN LILLIAN FOR THAT LONG AND YET YOU PICKED ME OVER HER. WHAT'S DIFFERENT" I stood up and got in front of him.
"YOU. YOU ARE WHAT'S DIFFERENT. YOU ARE LIKE NO ONE I'VE EVER MET, THIS RIGHT HERE IS WHAT'S DIFFERENT. LIS AND I DON'T DO THIS LILLIAN AND I DON'T DO THIS." He paced back and forth before stopping in front of me.
"WHY? WHY AM I DIFFERENT?" I asked my heart pumping out of my chest "YOU CAN'T EVEN TALK TO ME FOR FIVE MINUTES WITHOUT WANTING TO YELL, WE SPEND OUR TIME FIGHTING OR IN SILENCE. LIKE YOU SAID YOU DON'T DO THIS WITH THEM BUT YOU DO WITH ME. WHY?" My arms were flailing all over the place and his chest was pumping. We stood there staring at each other nostrils flared catching our breath. "Speak, Natsu please. If this is over I deserve to know that much." my voice broke with this sentence and I could feel my face heating up.
"No no no no, Lucy this isn't over it's barely even started." he spoke softly, something I've never heard from him before. He placed his hand on mine "Why would you think that?"
"I have terrible relationships with men" a hot tear rolled down my face and before it fell off my face Natsu's cool hand caught it. "I just, I can't do something like this to myself."
"Do something like what?" he asked concern written all over his face.
"this" I motioned between us "I was fine with it before I guess but now, I need something more I need substance." another tear fell.
"So what are you saying?" he asked his voice losing any structure that it had.
"I'm saying that if nothing is going to change I can't do this. I, I got attached. In the contract it says that if that does this has to end. I didn't come today with the intention of doing this" more tears fell.
"Than what did you want to do?"
"I wanted to talk, but somehow it led to this." more tears fell and he continued to wipe them away "Natsu, I like you. I don't know how the hell that happened or when but it did, I know you don't feel the same and that's why we're talking about it now."
"Are you blind? I've done so much more for you than I have for anyone else. I fired my assistant because she lied to you about me, that's why you're different" he said looking into my eyes.
"I have to go" I said pushing him off me walking towards the door. Before I could reach for the handle he grabbed my hand "Natsu please-" he placed a soft kiss on my forehead.
"I'm sorry" he whispered against my skin. I shut my eyes before turning back on my heels and pulling the door open. Mira and Levy were seated on a couch outside his office laughing and something on Mira's phone.
"This was when Lis first found her love for music, look at her dance" Mira laughed as Levy just stared and smiled. "OMG look at Elfman- " they looked up and saw me standing there with tear streaks running down my face "Hey you okay hun?" Mira asked shutting off her phone standing up.
"Lu" Levy said following Mira's actions.
"I'm fine, we talked. I just I want to just eat and go home" I said walking over to them. Mira grabbed me and pulled me into a tight hug.
"I know how much of an ass he is, but he must really like you to even have a conversation with you" she said into my hair. "I'll talk to him"
"Lu we should go" Levy said handing me a tissue after Mira let me go.
"Call me if you need anything " Mira said walking to the double doors of his office. I nodded and went into the elevator with Levy.
"Thank you Mira" I smiled before the doors closed. "Levy, I like him and I told him" I sniffed
"What'd he say?" she grabbed my hand and rubbed it lightly.
"I think. I think it's over" my hoarse voice came out in barely a whisper.
<NATSU POV>
What the fuck just happened. No girl has ever straight-out told me anything that Lucy has. "Hey" Mira came in and stood by the door.
"Help me" I choked as I tossed the empty bottle of liquor to the side.
"Babe what happened" She ran over to me as I dropped to my knees. "This isn't healthy, you smell like whiskey"
"I don't understand what's happening to me"
"Babe, you like her. That's what's different about this and your previous mates" she smiled wiping my tears as I placed my head on her lap.
"I need a drink"
"No you don't. You are going to kill your liver the way you've been drinking recently." she ran her fingers through my hair. "All you've been doing is drinking and moping waiting for her to call"
"What did she do to me" I sobbed
"She made you feel something other than pain Natsu."
"I don't want to feel like this, I just want to drink" I grabbed my chest "It hurts"
"Natsu, this is good. She's good for you, you deserve stability and happiness" she pushed my hand away.
"NO. SHE'S GONE SHE LEFT ME" I yelled pushing away from her. "She left me after Lillian, she left me because of the contract. She wants to terminate the contract that means she doesn't want me don't you understand Mira? She's gone" I choked out holding myself as I leaned against the base of my desk. "She's gone" I whispered.
