"you know, not that i'm lonely or anything but i'm lonely so maybe you should come back." haylee spoke as lex propped her phone on the dashboard so mike and her could get a good view.
taking a bite of her burger, as they sat in an empty parking lot. it was very late in colorado almost midnight late. rolling her eyes, lex knew this would happen, "i asked you not once, not twice, but ten times before i left to make sure you would be okay," she called her out as she picked up her drink and took a sip, "and what did you say?"
it was quiet, as haylee pouted not wanting to answer the question. haylee had insisted that she would be fine. that she would be okay. that she should see her boyfriend who she hadn't seen since christmas, "that i would be fine with the dogs." she muttered, defeat in her tone, "but i'm bored now."
"that sounds like a personal problem." mike smirked, his mouth full with the burger he was chewing as lex reached over with her thumb to wipe off the mayo that sat at the edge of his cheek.
"give me my best friend back, micheal," haylee demanded as she watched him shake his head no and take another bite of his burger, "i'm pregnant and bored."
lex reached for a fry as she watched her best friend pout. rolling her eyes, lex wasn't going to go home. she missed mike and she was sure haylee could survive a couple of more days without her, "lex lives with you right now!" mike retorted, "i see her maybe every two months for a week."
haylee knew mike had a point. but that didn't stop her from missing her best friend. it was the career that demanded so much of them and took a toll of the other as they tried to hold the ship down. it was easier for lex now as she was taking online college classes and could leave whenever she pleased to be with him but she had promised she would stay with haylee until the summer, "i don't see your point." haylee quipped back, shrugging her shoulders, "you're gonna haver her all summer! don't you care about your niece or nephews well being!"
"don't use that card on me, hayls." mike stern, "don't use my niece or nephew as bait. by the time summer comes you'll have him or she home so you'll be fine."
"he or she won't be here until august."
"close enough."
lex rolled her eyes as she picked up the phone, using a napkin to wipe your grease off her finger tips, "i'll be home sunday night so i can accompany you to the ultrasound like i promised." lex reminded making haylee sigh dramatically, "but right now, i'm gonna suck the soul outta my man in this car, so good bye haylee."
haylee let out as gasp. she knew lex wasn't kidding and she didn't want or need a to hear what they were planning to do, "oh my god!" she cried, "don't make my future niece or nephew in the back of his tesla."
"you heard her!" mike winked, "she's sucking the soul outta me!"
"adios, hayls!"
