mike had flown in, later that week. his mind now had come to and made peace with the fact that he would be father. looking over at lex, as she had opted to let mike drive to their doctors appointment, she was deep in thought. at twenty years old she did not picture herself being engaged and let alone to be expecting, "hey." he spoke making lex look at him, "take a breath." he reminded her, last thing he wanted was to be back at the hospital with her after she had fainted for her anxiety.

lex smiled at mike, "it's just crazy to think that i'm going to be a mom? can you even picture me as a mom?" mike actually could. he saw how good and amazing lex was with her niece and it all excited him for the future. maybe the future was approaching too soon, but he didn't mind, "mike, our child is going to rip me apart! it's in the genetics! giant father and giant uncles."

mike chuckled as they soon arrived to the clinic, a wave of nervousness as he helped lex down and walked in with their hands holding each other. by the time they had been checked in, mike and lex watched as toddlers and heavily pregnant mothers sat waiting for their name to be called. they must've looked so lost at sea as the mothers looked at them.

they thought, it could easily be a teen pregnancy by the looks of them and then thought about how they would be able to afford to care for a baby. lex felt uncomfortable under their stares as she tried to get closer to mike, "we're being judged." she whispered to him as mike let his eyes wander around making eye contact with a woman who couldn't be any older than her mid thirties and had three toddlers running around while her oldest tried to soothe the baby who didn't look any older than a year old. mike offered her a friendly smile and the woman only gave him a nod.

"Alexia Arenando?" beautiful ebony nurse came out as she scanned the room looking for the expecting mom. she was not expecting to see such a tall man stand up with her, and she smiled at how short she was compared to him, "how are you sweetie?" she asked as she began taking her height and her weight.

"nervous." lex responded as the nurse looked at her and then at mike who stood by her.

"oh don't be." she waved off, "i get it, though especially if you're young parents. it's okay, everything is going to be okay." the nurse looked at mike who had been quiet, "are you nervous baby daddy?"

"i don't know." he answered truthfully, shyness laced through his voice as the nurse smiled at him.

walking them into the room, lex was instructed to strip of her pants, "she's just going to check your cervix to make sure everything looks alright down there." she smiled as she watched as lex gave the towel to mike, "congratulations, i know your baby is going to be beautiful! i hope he or she gets your eyes, sweetheart."

lex stripped off her jeans as she shimmied off her panties before laying down and mike helped her place the blanket over her lower half. waiting together in silence, the doctor came in with a bright smile, "are we ready to see your little peanut?"

lex and mike nodded as lex felt the cool substance on her stomach after the doctor had checked her. hearing the heartbeat of their unborn child for the first time, lex felt her heart leap in her chest as mike squeezed her hand. they were both thinking the same thing. in a matter of months, they would have their child with them. a bit of her in him and vice versa, and that terrified them. they didn't know if they were ready and they sure as hell weren't prepared, "are you sure you just found out?" the doctor asked as she looked at lex and mike who shared a look of confusion on their faces, "you're about seventeen weeks, just little bit over four months."

"i'm sorry, i'm what?" lex asked as the doctor nodded, as she pointed at the fetus. showing her that the baby was already developing, "do you want to know the sex?" she asked and mike felt his jaw on the floor and his hands began to clam. he felt like he was right back during his draft night. on the outside he was trying to keep his composure but at the inside his nerves were eating him alive, "it's not rare for this to happen either. their bodies don't began to change and they continue having their periods, it's all normal."

"is it a boy or a girl?" mike asked as the doctor smiled at him.

"it's a healthy baby girl." she responded.

haylee and lex stood by her island, watching as mike held liam while they both watched replays of last season nba games. lex stood watching with eyes filled with adornment, already imaging him cradling their daughter, "you know i still can't fathom the fact that you've been pregnant all along instead of being fact." haylee shook her head as she looked at lex, the bump that everyone called a food baby was an actual human being, "you've been carrying a human being with no symptoms whatsoever, it's crazy how the body works."

"supposedly it's normal." lex shrugged as she licked her lips, "i always thought those shows were just hoax but apparently it's more common than you'd think."

haylee nodded, looking down at camryn who was swaddled against her chest. her best friend went from being on the verge of finishing college and starting a life with the man that made her the happiest to all of sudden starting a family, "when are you telling the rest of us?" she asked.

"bro," lex began, "i can't just you know tell them oh hey by the way i found out i was pregnant and not only that but i'm half way through my pregnancy! congrats!!"
