Jonah and Lex looked at the twins as they slept, obvious sleep deprivation as lex looked over at her brother, "go to bed, bubs."
lex mused as she brought him closer to her, her heart clenching at the sight of how broken jonah was. she had never seen him like this.

jonah looked at her baby sister, lex was ready to pop. she should be with mike in denver waiting for their daughter. instead, she was closer to eight months pregame and was wide awake with her brother while their mother slept in the other room, "you need it more than me." jonah mumbled as his hand landed on her swollen stomach, feeling the baby inside of her move at the sudden warmth his hand radiated, "youre carrying my niece, and it's not-"

"-don't use that card on me." lex hissed out as she looked at jonah, her green eyes threatening him to stay quiet because there was no way she would be carrying haylee's slack on her shoulders. there was no way she would be siding with haylee on whatever it was she was doing, "you can't do that to me. i'm here because i'm your sister, i'm ten toes deep for you, always. i ride with you and i grind with you. it's always us. if it comes to me helping you with your children i will. if i gotta do sleepless nights with you, i will. but you won't be doing this alone."

and it was days like these jonah was thankful for lex. for her strong will. for her character. for how independent and loving she was, "i can't do this anymore." he looked at her, tears brimming his eyes and lex ready to destroy everything and everyone. she had never felt this much anger inside of her, "where did i come short?"

lex opened and closed her mouth, taking his hand in hers and squeezing it, "you are more than enough." lex reassured, "i promise you that anyone would be luck to have you, bubs."

jonah shook his head. his will was being slowly destroyed as hours and days went by. he was being crumbled under pressure. his children didn't deserve it and most of all he felt like he didn't deserve, "why can't she just tell me that it's over?" he asked lex as lex shook her head. venom building up and she knew that only hateful words would fall and jonah didn't need to hear it.

"i don't know." lex answered, "i don't know. but what i do know is that you should rest and go to bed even if it's on the couch. i'll get up if they need feeding."

"they're my kids, alexia-"

"-and they are my niece and nephew." lex retorted making jonah sigh as he ran a hand through his hair, "i offered and you need to go back to work. i dont mind. i can sleep in the morning once meg comes here. it's fine."

lex looked at jonah who didn't move. extending her arm as she motioned for him to help her up. her legs were so swollen as she got to the end of her pregnancy. placing a hand on her waist, as she slowly waddled towards her room to fetch a blanket she returned back, "lay your ass down on this couch, now!"
she hissed out pointing at him. jonah didn't object. his sister was no one to be messed with, especially when she was tired and how could only imagine how amplified her emotions were as she reached the final stretched.

"lex." jonah muttered as lex turned around, one of mike's shirts on her body as she wore his boxers, "she's going to be lucky to have a mom like you, little one. truly."

"and they're lucky to have a daddy like you bubs." she smiled as she walked away.
