lex was in close to twenty weeks when everyone was able to come down to colorado for a family dinner. it was still nice in late september that lex and mike decided to have it outside, "what's cooking?" mike asked as he came from behind lex, leaving a kiss on her temple.

mike had insisted to have his chef cook that night. he didn't want to put her under the stress of cooking for over twenty people, "i think we agreed on chicken and shrimp alfredo ." lex smiled as she watched mike walk around in just his boxers looking for something to wear.

"which shirt says dad to be?" he questioned as he came back now in light blue jeans. holding up a white polo and a blue one, "we wanna be subtle here."

lex shook her head as went into their now shared closet with mike, with her shirtless fiancé following her. in the course of a week, lex had gained almost five pounds and mike insisted they were going into all the right places, "you're too much." she giggled as she pointed at the white shirt, pulling out her favorite jeans lex began slipping them on before she began struggling to button her pants. mike watched in amusement, as she unsuccessfully tried to suck in her growing belly. there was a small noticeable bump yet, but the weight gain was beginning to be even more noticeable, "they don't button!" she cried.

"it's because your ass is getting fatter, baby." pointing out, mike got up and gave it a slight smack, "and i'm not complaining."

"michael!" lex hissed as she began looking for another pair of jeans she could wear. finally opting a dark pair that she knew would fit she began dressing herself and walking downstairs to where the chef was already cleaning up.

"i hope there's enough." he smiled as lex shook her head.

"i can't thank you enough, it smells amazing." she mused as her eyes landed on the cake that was propped on the island.

"mike told me you guys are expecting so i prepared a cake, it's pink on the inside, it's also just plain vanilla."

lex smiled widely at the sound of that, "you really didn't have to, thank you."

grabbing his belongings, the man excused himself, "i'll be getting out of y'all's head, congrats by the way. we might have a future wnba star cooking up."

lex chuckled agreeing. mike had talked about how excited he was to teach his daughter all he knew about the game he loved so much. it was the way his hazel eyes sparkled at the thought of bonding with his daughter that made lex forget about how nervous she was to actually give birth. she didn't worry about the baby arriving, she knew she lucked out with mike, "he is already coming up with a plan, i just know it." she smiled as she watched the chef close the door behind him.

mike finally came down with the brown box lex had left in their shared bedroom with name tags for everyone, "cierra went to get my parents from the hotel." he announced as he sat next to lex on the couch as they went over the name tags that had grandma millie and grandma lisa and etc on them.

the first to arrive were nolan and laura, as they came in with a bottle of wine in their hands, "you never want to go to a dinner empty handed." laura mused as she pulled lex into a hug.

nolan and mike had made such a scene on how they hadn't seen each other in weeks that it made laura and lex stand watching them, "i don't wanna see how they get when the brothers arrive." laura whispered as lex and her went into the kitchen where everything was.

"a cake?" she asked, looking at her sister-in-law with shocked eyes, "whatever you guys have to tell us, it must be really important." she quipped, wanting to know what it was that they had to tell the whole family about.

"is it about your wedding?" laura asked as lex started reaching for plates and utensils, "do you guys have a date?"

lex looked at laura. her wedding date was the least of her worries now. what kept them up at night now was deciding between which crib would be best and which car seat was built better than the other, "we have rarely talked about it." lex confessed, "but i was thinking maybe next summer."
