"what are these, mama" lex questioned as she crawled into the bed with millie, her green eyes looking at the pictures millie had sprawled all over the bed, "oh my god!" lex cried as she picked up the pictures realizing it was baby pictures of them.
millie looked over at her youngest as she realized that in a blink of an eye her children had left the nest. starting families of their own and leaving behind the home that they had helped build, "i'm feeling nostalgic, that's all, mija." millie mused, as lex leaned into her mother, the familiarity of it making her feel like a child again. when she would search for the same arms after she had done mischief and her brothers were out to get her, "i guess it finally hit me that you guys aren't my babies anymore." she nodded, tears brimming her eyes as she looked at how much lex had grown up.
she wasn't the little girl who had insisted to follow nolan to colorado because she wanted to be with her brother or the one who would go into jonah's room and bleach all his clothes or the one who insisted the cousy was the only that could make her injuries feel better. she was now woman who was just months away from marrying a man that millie knew loved her daughter more than anything, "look at this one." millie smiled as she showed her the picture.
it was at the hospital after millie had given birth to lex. the brothers all sitting next to each other, a ten year old nolan in the middle as he held onto her head, and twelve year old cousy holding onto five year old jonah with round brimmed glasses, "you were a sweet surprise." millie added but was interrupted by the rest of the brothers piling in, "these fools roughed you -"
"lex was out for blood the moment she was born," jonah interrupted their mother, "i won't forget how she spit up all over me after she was born."
lex turned to look at her older brother, a glare on her eyes as she now sat between millie and nolan who had instantly wrapped his arms around her, "i was a baby you idiot!"
cousy snorted as his blue eyes scanned all the pictures. it was crazy for him to think that life really did go by faster then one could think. one day he's changing diapers for his little sister and the next he's a dad, "look at this one!" he chuckled as he leaned over his mother as he handed the picture to lex.
a smile on her lips as took in the image of her dressed in what was her brother baseball uniforms, a smile taking over her lips as she was held by cousy who at the time was sixteen, "always been my little doll." cousy reminded lex who smiled brightly at her brother.
"this one is one of my favorites." millie smiled as she reached over to grab the picture of the four of them. cousy at the bottom, with nolan laying on him and jonah on top of him and the the very top, a two year old Lex with her curls falling out of her messy pigtails sitting on top of her brothers with a wide smile.
"just goes to show how whipped lex had us as a baby."
"still does." jonah groaned as he reached behind nolan and smacked the back of lex's head making her reach over and pull on his hair.
"i will bleach all your clothes again." she hissed out as nolan covered her mouth with his hand.
"good baby sister, not bad baby sister." nolan smiled as he brought lex closer to him and glaring at jonah, "good little brother is good to baby sister because we know she bites."
"now who roughened her up?" millie asked looking at her sons, "you made her this way, it's on you."
