"just pitch it!" dlo yelled as lex held onto the softball. it felt so odd to be holding one after almost three years of being away from the fields. missing the long hot summer days and the god awful tans that came with.

"you might want her to go easy on you!" jonah yelp as he took a swing of his beer waiting his turn to hit, "i'm pretty sure she's still a speed devil!" dlo turned around as he shrugged jonah off. how fast could she pitch? jonah had been on that end many times. as a teenager when he had scouts after him and he needed to get more hits in. he would have lex, who at the time was probably in sixth grade but her pitching was always top-notch.

"i will break your face, russell." lex snickered making haylee close her eyes because the least she needed right now was a broken window from wild pitch, especially knowing the arm strength the arenados had- it didn't just stop after jonah, lex wasn't far behind them.

"don't dare her!" haylee yelled out, a virgin piña colada in her hand as the sun began to set. remembering one of her last high school games were lex had knocked a tooth out from an opposing school with a fast ball and playing catcher with her plenty of times. no padding in a glove could prevent the sting and the bruises on her palms, "she will break your jaw."

"give it to me, little miss cuban." dlo smirked as he watched lex began to rotate her shoulder to loosen up, positioning herself as she use during her club and high school games. jonah narrowed his eyes. he had spent countless of nights training his sister. helping her with her throws when nolan couldn't. taking her to the fields. he could usually tell by the way she looked at someone what ball he was going to give them.

letting go of the ball, the speed going faster than she expected since it had been ages since she last pitched. the ball came from a downward spiral and jonah knew she had used the drop pitch on russell. starting high up and suddenly with the speed she had thrown it drop unexpectedly. landing with a thud on his toes, dlo let out a hiss as he looked over at lex who smiled viciously, "i told you." she taunted making him groan in response.

"why'd your quit?" he finally asked, earning sensation back in his toes, "you're really good."

"it's all fun and games but i never wanted to go to college for that. it's draining and it ties you down to something."
