Chapter 18: Goodnight

I felt my phone vibrated and I immediately look at the text. Alam ko na kung kanino galing ’to. Isang tao lang naman ang magtityagang itext ako. He’s sending me messages every day. Telling me what he’s doing, saan siya pupunta, good morning and goodnight text’s and he also never forget to say he misses me.

Though hindi ako nagrereply. Galit pa rin kasi ako sa kanya. No wait, hindi pala ako galit. Hurt may be the right word to describe what I feel for him.

“Nakangiti ka nanaman! Nagtext na si beh?” He mocked me. With ‘h’ talaga sa dulo ‘yung pagkabigkas niya ng beh na nagpatawa sa akin.

“Kainis ka alam mo ‘yun?” It was more of a statement.

Nakatira pa rin ako dito sa condo ni Toby and I’m starting to like it here. Minsan nga feeling ko bahay ko na rin ‘to kung makaasta ako. Inaaway ko pa talaga ‘yung may-ari ng bahay.

Isa pa, sinabi naman niya sa akin to feel at home. Sinunod ko lang naman siya.

“Sabi ko naman kasi sayo ako nalang, e.” He joked.

I remembered our conversation the other night while we’re watching some chick flick movies. Yeah, I won sa pustahan kaya we ended up watching it kahit ayaw niya. So ayun, after the movie ended, out of nowhere, he confessed that he still loves me.

“But don’t worry. Wala naman akong balak agawin ka kay beh. I just want you to know that I’m always here for you.”

He even admit that he is stupid for letting someone like me go and how lucky Mark should be because I love him.

“Yes, he may be lucky but I’m not. Obviously, that’s why I’m here.”

Paano naman kasi ako magiging maswerte e ayaw nga niya sa akin!

He wants me back to his house because probably mamamatay na siya sa gutom o kaya naman ay nagsawa na siya sa fastfood and nauubos na ang pera niya which I doubt. Yes, I think that’s more like it. Hindi naman kasi siguro na miss na niya ako o kaya gusto na niya ako makasama.

I just hope that someday the reason would be the latter.

“Natulala ka nanaman! Joke lang ‘yun, oy!” He snapped his fingers in front of me.

“Ha? Ano? Oo.”

“Anong oo?” Tawa niya, “Nabaliw ka na talaga sa lalaking ‘yun!”

When I didn’t answer he pushed more into the topic.

“So, kalian mo balak umuwi?”

Kumunot ang noo ko,”Pinapaalis mo na ba ako? Sabihin mo lang Toby!”

“Ang matampuhin mo pa rin!” Asar niya sa akin,”Kumain ka na nga lang!”

I spent the rest of the afternoon watching tv, browsing the net, and anything that I can do to kill the boredom. But I spent half of my day by looking at the screen of my phone. Thinking if I should reply to him or not.
