taehyung has been driving for thirty minutes, smashing past the dead as they approach. there's so many of them, it's sickening and overwhelming. duck sleeps in the backseat, and claudia is giving him direction to jimin's pharmacy. taehyung prays the male is still there.
claudia has been pushing away the sickness she feels from within for the past ten minutes, letting the cold air hit her directly as she begins sweating. the small bite mark still hasn't been noticed.
taehyung makes a turn, but comes to a halt when he sees the amount of zombies that are feeding off of a corpse. "is there a shortcut we can take?" he asks, looking at claudia.
she's passed out. taehyung shakes her shoulder, but the girl is motionless. an eerie feeling settles in his gut as her watches her chest rise and fall unsteadily. "claudia? what's wrong?" she opens her eyes once again and whimpers, undoing her seatbelt.
the mint haired boy frowns, "hey, what's wrong? do you feel sick?"
"tae, i don't feel good. i think—" she starts patting her body, running her fingers along her arms before they come in contact with the blood that oozes from the bite. she turns her body and looks at it, wide eyes meeting taehyung's.
"it's ok, you're ok. we can figure something out ok?" taehyung tries to not panic, driving into a different street.
claudia cries. she's scared. she can't expose them, she'll turn anytime now. the girl can feel the disease taking over her body. she's starting to lose her sense of touch. . . it's too much.
"no! claudia no!"
he can't do anything as he watches her get out of the car and slam the door as he hits the breaks. duck jolts awake and cries. claudia walks towards the zombies and yells, gaining their attention. she begins running in the opposite direction, clearing the road for taehyung.
he cries, banging his hand on the wheel over and over. but he can't grieve now, he has one more person to protect. taehyung speeds past the street, nearing solar hotel. he's only a few blocks away from the pharmacy, he'll make it. the buildings are closed, spray painted with words like run and no living, all dead. taehyung drives into the parking lot and quickly undoes his seatbelt, reaching into the back and scooping duck into his arms. securing his backpack, taehyung runs out of the car and begins knocking on the door.
his eyes look around for any sign of the dead, luckily there's none. for now. taehyung bangs on the metal covering, rhythmically knocking over and over. please jimin, please be here. he's so distraught, that he doesn't notice the body approaching him from the side, until it grabs at him and drags him back.
taehyung screams, but a hand is quickly covering his mouth. yoongi?! the shorter male puts a finger to his lips, silencing him as he removes his hand from taehyung's mouth. yoongi motions him to follow, eyeing the little boy who makes no sound. taehyung trails behind, going inside through a backdoor.
they're shut off from the outside world, and the lights turn on from inside. "oh my god taehyung!" jimin rushes to the trio, eyes wide and alarmed.
taehyung puts duck down, but the little kid wraps his arms around the males leg. "you know each other?" yoongi points at both males, "because i know both of you."
jimin kneels down at duck's level and pokes his cheek, "you want a lollipop?"
duck looks up at taehyung, who gives him a small smile. jimin picks duck up and takes him to the counter, baby talking him.
yoongi looks at taehyung and notices his bloodshot eyes and swollen eyes. he sits him down on a chair, "what happened?"
taehyung hiccups, "i wasn't coming alone but she-she was b-bitten and-and, i couldn't help her."
he breaks down again, and for the second time in his young adult years, min yoongi hugs someone. he comforts taehyung as jimin eyes the two, giving yoongi a sympathetic look. "hey, there's nothing you could've done. i'm sure she was grateful for you."
jimin smiles at duck, pulling out his phone and sending a quick message to someone he knows will feel a lot of relief after reading it.
