he was not going to be able to save them. the thought ran through his head as he sat in the corner of the box room, unable to free himself from the chains that constrain him to the walls. weak. taehyung was so weak he wouldn't even be able to save his friends, the ones who put their safety in his hands. what was he to do now? even if he was able to break free, the virus was now in his system. he poses a threat to them, to jeongguk. he doesn't know how long it'll take before he turns, or if he'll even turn. this was supposed to be the final stage, whatever the hell that meant. after being blacked out for who knows how long, he has now found himself in this room.

a tap on the window grabs his attention. it's his mother, with a clipboard in her hand and a pen tapping on it. "how are you feeling taehyung?" she asks through the glass, eyes scanning his body.

right, he was semi naked. in case any spores or black veins would begin appearing, they'd be easier to catch. in all honesty, taehyung is feeling fine. or as fine as one can feel in his situation. eunha looks at her watch. it's only been twenty minutes since the virus was put into him. the added mutation could cause transformation in hours if taehyung's body was strong enough.

taehyung looks away from her, but it's clear there's no signs of turning yet. eunha leaves the room once again and taehyung is left in isolation. jeongguk and the rest would be waiting for him to open the facility doors any minute now, they'd notice something is wrong.

he only worries what'll happen if they come for him.

suddenly his vision blanks, and all he sees is darkness. he panics, heartbeat increasing as he looks around in hopes of regaining his vision. as quickly as it goes, it comes back. god, he was already losing himself. how much longer. . .

eunha steps back into the room, this time with another person behind her who's face he's seen before. "i'm sure you've met doctor jung hoseok before," eunha says, walking over to the lab table and picking up a few things.

of course, the doctor who was desperate to get him to namhae. it's starting to make sense now. "hello mr kim," hoseok gives him a tight smile, taking off his coat and placing it on a chair, observing him carefully.

taehyung doesn't say anything, he looks back to the floor, ears ringing as a strange surge of nausea washes over him. his mother notices and frowns, "do you need to throw up?" she grabs a bin and pushes it towards taehyung.

"don't worry taehyung, if the cure we've created works, you'll be fine. the reason we started rounding up first class survivors to namhae was due to their updated health, as there seems to be more diseases and illnesses in the poorer classes. if those were to combine with new medicine, the outcome would be even more deadly. we'd be seeing category four's quicker. the government didn't allow for us to experiment any further, so we took matters into our own hands," hoseok informs, opening up a case filled with vials and syringes.

taehyung tenses as the doctor takes out a small container with red fluids inside. "don't worry, even if you turn, you'd distinguish between right and wrong, though your hunger for flesh and to further pass down the virus would be stronger than your will to fight it off."

"just let them leave," taehyung murmurs.

"oh no, the more people we can inject it to, the better. the little boy resisted it just fine."

     duck.

taehyung thrashes upwards, ignoring the pain of the chains tying him down, "what the hell did you do to him?!"

"his body adapted around the v strand, instead of his cells attacking the intruder, it led to coadaptation. and even better than that, the v strand worked. he had deep trauma, he experienced the death of his parents, and it seemed to have caused losing the memory of his name. before you and your friends arrived, he was already remembering his name. the v strand served it's purpose, it blocked out the traumatic event in his brain," eunha steps closer to taehyung, "and now if it works on you, you'll forget what your father did to us. we'll be a happy family."

what? what is she talking about?

     "i-i'm not traumatized mother."

"yes you are, and that's ok. your fathers betrayal hurt us—"

"it hurt you! i was at the academy that you sent me to. i didn't even know about his infidelity," taehyung looks at his mom with tears in his eyes, "just let me go mom. please, please stop what you're doing."

"i'm afraid she can't do that, the virus is already in your body. it's just a matter of time before you either turn or," hoseok lifts a syringe, "or your body accepts the cure."

eunha steps back towards hoseok, nodding at him, "give it to him."

hoseok walks towards taehyung, kneeling down beside him. "you'll feel the acid travel through your veins, it might hurt since you're not asleep."

     "and if it doesn't work?"

     "we'll find another host."
