"The Blue Lions house wins!"
Your house crowded around you, chanting their name. You had won the Battle of the Eagle and Lion, your hard work paying off. Your students praised you and you saw pride and joy in their eyes, but you couldn't seem to pay attention to them.
You couldn't keep your eyes away from the poor boy, standing in the back of the Black Eagles crowd.
Caspar watched your house celebrate, his face crestfallen. Your heart wrenched at the sight, and the blue boy quickly looked away once you caught his gaze.
Seteth ushered everybody off of the field and you all began to head back towards the Monastery. You continued to glance in Caspar's direction. He was walking behind the crowds of students, kicking rocks sullenly. You stopped walking and let the students pass you, waiting for the boy to come.
He looked up at you and put on a definitely-fake smile as you began to walk beside him. "Hey professor," His smile didn't reach his eyes, "Congrats on your win."
You sighed, trying to ignore the small flutter in your stomach as he talked to you. "Thank you, but I wanted to talk about the other houses."
"Oh, I don't think that's a good idea, especially with me-"
"It isn't a loss." You interrupted, "You have nothing to be ashamed of."
Caspar looked at you wide-eyed, so you continued. "You all gave my house a run for their money. When I saw you fight Ingrid, you nearly destroyed her. I work my students past their limits almost always and they've gotten better because of it. Caspar, what I'm saying is that you're strong. And defeats will come often, but that just means that more practice is needed."
"I'm just so sick of feeling.. weak." Caspar spat out, "In the Black Eagles, everything is about Edelgard. I understand that she's the house leader, but all of our training caters to her! I would be better off with an axe instead of my gauntlets by now."
Your heart hurt at Caspar's despair. You couldn't help but slightly agree, but Edelgard was in fact the strongest in the Black Eagles. Though you wouldn't tell Caspar that, instead opting for another helpful route.
"How would you feel about joining the Lions instead? I treat my class as equals and you're never going to improve if you keep feeling this way. If you don't think you're getting the help you need, then find somewhere else."
Caspar's eyes widened and slowly a grin formed on his face. "R-really professor? You'd let me?"
You returned his smile. "Of course. I've wanted you for a long time anyway."
Luckily for you- or maybe, unfortunately- Caspar didn't catch onto your hidden connotation. He continued to smile and suddenly wrapped his arms around you, his cheek resting atop your head. Your face must've been on fire as you returned his hug because as he pulled back, still keeping his arms around you, he laughed.
"Thank you, really." His eyes seemed to sparkle, just like his smile, "It means a lot. Now I can get two things I've wanted: improvement and spending more time with you."
With those words, he pressed a kiss to your cheek and ran off, joining back up with the group. You could only stand still, your hand pressed against the kiss.
