after just receiving the letter, you were put in a bad mood. you didn't even want to open it. you knew that there was nothing inside except for negativity, so you just left it on your desk with other letters from your friends back home

later that day as you and dimitri sat in your room to do homework, he saw all the letters and mentioned how there was an unopened one.

you didn't think much of it, telling him that you probably just forgot to open one of your friends' letters and that he could open it

he did and stayed silent for a while. you asked him to read it out loud, but he didn't

instead, he looked up and asked kinda quietly, "how could your parents say these things to you?"

you jumped up from your bed and snatched the paper out of his hand, tearing it up and throwing it away. "it doesnt matter"

"it does matter," he gently pushed your shoulder to make you sit back down, "im here if you ever want to... talk about it, you know."

"yeah," you'd lay your head on his shoulder as he sat with you.

you didnt really want to talk about it right now, but he wouldn't push you. he would just be there for you, giving you as much love as possible.

originally, sylvain didnt know what to think when he found you crying on the dormitory steps

he sat down with you, not saying a word. he'd just sit and stare ahead, waiting for you to pull yourself together a little before he'd ask

he did and you wordlessly handed him the letter, letting him read it.

to say that sylvain was furious would be an understatement

he'd go on this huge rant that was essentially insulting your family and complimenting you

eventually, he'd turn to you and take your face in his hands, looking you in the eyes

"y/n l/n, you are so much more than what anyone says. you deserve to be here just as much as everyone else does, and you're doing so well. you're amazing."

if you had stopped crying, then you were again- but for a different, and better, reason

felix honestly doesnt know what to think. or do. or say. or anything

he sees it as an opportunity to ask you to train with him more

"obviously, your family doesn't think you're good enough yet. I'll help you get better."

he's really just trying to help you the way he helps himself- with distractions

its a win-win to him. you forget about your problems for a while and get better to prove your family wrong and he gets to train. even better, he gets to train with you.

if you're crying, he'll do whatever you ask. he'll hold you, cuddle you
