"mama!"

as you walked into your bedroom, you saw small hands grabbing the air in silas's lap. you smiled a little and sat beside your husband, pulling your daughter into your lap.

"hi, sophie!" you said as she hugged you, "gosh, you're getting so big!"

sophie giggled and buried her head into your stomach. "can we play?"

you nodded and stood up, carrying her over to the small bin that contained her toys. you pulled out dolls, blocks, and a stuffed dragon that camilla made before sitting down in front of her and silas to join you.

"build a castle!" sophie pulled the blocks towards her and you helped her lay out a foundation for her castle. for hours, she continued to accidentally knock the blocks over due to her small toddler hands and got quite frustrated, but nevertheless she persisted.

finally, after the seventh collapse of the castle, she broke. first came sniffles, then a few tears, and then the meltdown. she cried loudly, the crocodile tears making silas sick with worry as he tried to console her.

"soph! baby, it's okay!" he pulled her into his arms and coddled her, rocking the girl back and forth.

you moved to sit beside your husband and laid your hand on sophie's knee. "you're a strong girl. and strong girls finish the castle. do you want to finish it?"

sophie shook her head no. silas's rocking made her sleepy. her eyes slowly closed despite her fighting it off, and her head began to lean against his chest. you smiled at the sight of your two loves. soon, sophie was asleep.

silas looked at you and stood up, laying on your shared bed and pulling the blankets back. then he looked at you. "well, are you just gonna sit there? c'mon, let's nap."

you stood up and walked to the bed, laying in with the two. you laid your head on the free part of silas's arm and looked down at your daughter sleeping peacefully in between you.

"i'm lucky to have you two." you smiled.

"i'm lucky to have you guys as well," silas leaned in to press a kiss to your lips, and then one to the top of sophie's head, "my two favorite girls."
