"yknow professor, you're like our mom."

"i- what?"

hilda put her hands behind her back innocently. "our mom. you always look out for us and like... we can definitely come to you if we need something."

"well, i'm flattered that you think that way," you put your hand to your chest.

"and seteth is like the dad!" flayn cheered.

"but flayn..." ignatz's eyebrows furrowed, "hes your brother, not your dad...."

"he's a father figure, you dunce!" hilda said, "y/n and seteth, mom and dad. how cute!"

your face flushed more and more the deeper that your students got into the conversation.

leonie only watched you, not contributing to anything. she saw how you blushed at the mention of you and seteth. she heard the small stutters in your voice as you denied that anything was going on between you two. and then she smirked, an idea forming in her head.

the next day, to say you were frazzled was an understatement. you were walking through the reception hall, talking to seteth about lesson plans but you couldn't act quite... normal.

sure, you had liked seteth since you came to the monastery, but you never really thought much of it. now, your students' teasing brought the situation to light and you couldn't seem to push the feelings down like usual.

every glance made you nearly get lost in his eyes and every fleeting brush of his hand against yours as you passed papers made your body erupt into flutters. you swallowed, trying to digest the butterflies.

seteth eyed you as you stared dazedly at the table you had stopped at. "are you okay?"

you looked up at him. "what? i-im fine! just peachy!" you struggled to keep your voice stable.

"uh, okay, so-"

"mom! i have a question!"

you and seteth turned your heads towards the voice. a head of orange hair was bounding towards you, waving a paper in the air. leonie stopped in front of you, breathless. you noticed the paper as the homework you had assigned- a worksheet on the evolution of tactics.

"can you explain to me number 6? i have two answers in mind, but i'm not sure which one would be acceptable." leonie then looked towards seteth, "oh, hey dad."

you heard seteth's sharp intake of breath and shook your head, ashamed. your cheeks continued to burn as you carefully explained the question to leonie, praising her when she got the right answer. she thanked you and left, but not before waving and yelling, "bye mom, bye dad!" as she walked away.

seteth turned to you, his eyebrow raised. "mind telling me what that was about?"

"what what was about?" you responded, pretending to organize papers that you were carrying.

"don't act dumb. the mom and dad thing."

you looked up at him and sighed defeatedly. "the students see me as a mother figure, so to speak. and they decided that you were the dad, since they think that wewouldbecutetogether."

"we what?" he asked, not quite getting the last part that you sped out.

"they think that we would be cute together, so they say that we're like their mom and dad away from home."

seteth seems to ponder this thought for a moment. "i suppose if the students all think we should be together, i must agree with them."

"you- you do?"

"i do. these children are wonderful, but i do think that one day, having a little one of my own to call us mother and father would be even better, my love."
