We arrive at the house. It isn't very dark but the sun is already down. I quickly walk upstairs and take off the red dress. I still have Luke his t-shirt so I put it on. It is almost a dress for me. The t-shirt has a comforting smell. I think I'm going to read the book that one of the old townies wrote. I need to know more. Especially about my grandmother. I grab it out of my bag and sit on my bed. The pages are old and the text is written in beautiful handwriting. It isn't a common book. The first part is about vampires and what they can do. A beautiful drawing of the tattoo takes a whole page. It is a Sun, the middle part is a spiral and around it has curvy lines. Someone did put the effort into this book. It looks very similar to the one Luke has on his back. The next part is about werewolves. They have also tattoo's but they stand for the packs. The Maryville pack is a moon with a weird symbol next to it. I don't know how to describe it. It is a nice tattoo. I can ask if Jenny has it, she is a Maryville werewolf I think. The next part is about weapons we can use on both species. The wooden stake is mostly used to kill vampires. Werewolf's you have to shoot with silver bullets. Or just stake them with silver. The next chapter is about witches. I know now that Natalie is a witch. Why didn't she tell me? Maybe it sounded weird to her. I have to talk to her. I also have to talk to Ethan and Jenny. I have to explain everything. They need to know Luke and Niall aren't the bad guys. I just don't know the right moment to do that.

The handwritten letters are drawing my attention from my thoughts. A witch is one of the most powerful creatures. They can help vampires and werewolves. Mostly they help themself and the humans but they also have to make sacrifices. They can spell the tattoos of vampires so they can walk in the sun. They make potions for werewolves so they can heal quicker if they break a bone they have to wait till the full moon for a healing process, but with these potions, they heal immediately. They also can create cures for werewolf bites. Only if they really want to. Witches have a spellbook where all the spells are written in it. They have protection spells but they also can attack you with the spells. I can't find a single spell in these books. Not any example. So the witches keep the spells for themselves. I will read just one more chapter before I go to sleep. It is about compulsion. Luke mentioned it earlier. It was something like mind control. Vampires can use it on every human being. They can't use it on the supernatural. If they compel someone they will do what you say. Witches created a balance so humans can protect themselves against compulsion. They created a spell that only works on black onyx. The black onyx, I thought first that that was the walking in the sun object but Luke told me that that wasn't right. The black onyx can be in jewelry but also just the stone. It is not a common stone so people who have it are lucky. I have to find some black onyx. Maybe I can have Luke his ring. No that is his and Niall's. Tomorrow I am going to find some piece of jewelry that Natalie can spell. So I cannot be compelled.

My eyes feel heavy. It is almost two am. I have to sleep but I can't stop reading. There only are a few chapters left. The next chapter is about some old history of the town. Maybe I can put this in the project. The chapter I wanted is next. Marion Moreau is written as a title. The book says she is a different kind of supernatural. She helped the town, she fought off the vampires. Wow, my grandmother is a legend here in Maryville. Why did she move to France? This was a boring chapter. Nothing says something about what she was. I think that I am the same as my grandmother. I turn the page an see the title. Predictors. What is that supposed to mean? It isn't a long chapter. Predictors are with the witches the most powerful supernatural. Predictors have visions about what will happen. They can use their powers to help protect humans. There are only a few of these supernatural in this world. If they aren't killed, around 100 predictors spread around the world. The most are in one family. Marion Moreau was one. The Moreau family is one with a lot of predictors in it. They can grow their powers and become stronger. Predictors are there with reasons. They keep the humans safe.

What? I'm one of the most powerful supernatural. Why didn't anyone tell me about this? I am a predictor. I still don't know completely what it means but maybe my dad knows. He was vague a few days ago. I have to tell Luke and Jenny. But the book says that predictors are there with a reason. What is mine? Why can my grandma just live in this house so she could tell me? Wait, is that why I am good at French? Because my grandmother lives there. It sends a message. I looked to the street and Alex was there why did it look, because of my powers? All these small moments are connected with me being a predictor? The dream with my grandma in it. All the small pieces are falling into place. There are a lot more questions but a lot makes more sense now. I have to ask my dad about it before my mom comes home. Why didn't asked him about Marion Moreau in the restaurant? Maybe we had this discussion already. I have to go to sleep. I put the book on my nightstand and close my eyes.

...

When I wake up it is 10 am. I jump out of bed and grab an outfit. Biker shorts with an oversized t-shirt and a bucket hat. I go to the bathroom and take a quick shower. The hat seemed weird in the house so I just put it away. I walk downstairs and don't see my dad. Probably sleeping. I make some toast for both of us and wait for my dad. Ten minutes late he comes down fully showered and dressed for the day. "Good morning Maddie, thanks for breakfast." My dad has a sleepy voice. He looks like he is awake but his voice says different. "Your welcome." I take a sip from my orange juice and think about how I am going to start this conversation. "When is mom going to be home?" I ask my dad. "Around noon I guess." "Okay, well that is great because I need to talk to you about something." My dad calmly takes a sip from his coffee. "Dad I know about vampires, werewolves, witches, and predictors." My dad spits his coffee back in his mug and looks at me. "How, how. How did you find out?" "Because of the project from school and Jenny." "Yeah, the werewolf. And Luke?" "I know he is the vampire. How did you know?" "From your grandmother. She warned me about your friends. But she said Natalie and Alex were okay." "Yeah because Natalie is a witch and Alex is human." "I should've told you earlier." "Yes. I am seventeen and I had no idea what was going on. I had weird dreams and visions about a girl who turns out to be my grandmother. I almost didn't know because you erased every picture of her." "Only for her safety. Nobody can know she lives in France." "Why not?" "I don't know. I am not a predictor you are." "Yeah and I only know that since yesterday." "God Maddie I am so glad you know it now. Because I can tell the truth." "What?" "The truth about everything. But maybe you should call your grandmother first. She can tell you about predictors and other stuff. I only know they exist and that I have to protect you." "That is weird because in the book it says I have to protect humans." I playfully say to lighten the mood. "Very funny Maddie. Your still my daughter." "I will call with her after I have taken a run. I have to build my condition for the cheer team." "Just ask me when you are ready."

I have never had a good conversation with my dad until now. We did once. But the cheating scandal was always in my mind. What truth has my dad to tell me? I walk upstairs to put on some sportswear and go for a run. To clear my mind for a second and build my condition.
