Chapter 30

"I called you here because I think if we are going to kill that vampire. We need to work together." I say. Luke almost starts laughing. "You mean with the wolves and a witch who sides with the wolves." luke says. "Yeah, exactly." "Nope, she just paralyzed my brother for a couple of hours." Natalie rolls her eyes. "If I had some of this for wolves I would have used it on both of them," Natalie says. "You say that now but it's always my brother who is the bad guy in your eyes so you would probably use it only on him." "Maybe," Natalie says and throws her hair back her shoulder. When did she become so fearless? "Please, guys. Do not fight. We don't know how strong this vampire is and I think we can use all of you. We have to protect the people in this town." I say and walk to the kitchen. Natalie walks with me and that lets Luke and Ethan alone in the living room. "I think you are right. We know he is old but maybe he is not that strong as we imagined." Natalie says. "That's possible but what if he is stronger than we imagined?" "I don't know. I can ask some of my family to help us." "No, I can't do that. I can't ask them to help me. I think that if we all work together we can beat this guy. Especially now because he doesn't know who I am." "True, but what if?" "We can ask that question for a long time but for now we have to go with what we have." "And that is?" "That we probably aren't strong enough to beat him unless we work together." I look over my shoulder to see what Ethan and Luke are doing.

Luke's POV.

"I don't think so!" I say and look at Niall lying there on the floor. He can't move and I see the struggle in his eyes. He has never felt like this. I have but he hasn't. Those witches are always coming with surprises. "You heard her, if we don't work together it will not happen," Ethan says. "Yes I know, but I will never work with you." "Think about it. Two mediocre vampires against one super powerful. That battle isn't in your favor." "You don't know that we have Maddie and Natalie. Those two are also super powerful." "Maybe but he is after Maddie so is it a good plan to bring her there?" "We also have Olivia," Niall says and sits straight up. "Oh, so you're awake, great," Ethan responds. "Yes, I am. Now I'm going to teach that witch a lesson." Niall says and sets a step towards the kitchen. Ethan grabs his arm and stops him from going to the girls. "Get your filthy wolf claws off of me." He says and turns around. "Oh no, not again," Natalie says and grabs that bottle again. Natalie fills her hand with the grey stuff again. "No please don't do it again. You don't know what kind of torture a vampire feels when you do that," I say and stand in front of Natalie. "Only if those animals stop fighting." "Niall, Ethan. Please bury your anger, please. Store it for when we have to kill our lovely friend." Niall and Ethan both look at me and then at each other.  "Come on shake hands," Natalie says. Niall looks with disgust at Ethan and Natalie. Ethan sticks his hand out and waits for Niall. I give Niall a look and I see him in doubt but he still shakes Ethan his hand. "So does this mean we all work together now?"  Maddie asks and looks at all of us. "It's a start," I say and I open the front door. Natalie hugs Maddie and then leaves. Ethan follows her and it's only Niall, Maddie, and Me. "Before you invite us over tell us what you are planning next time." I give her a kiss and then leave with Niall.

Maddie's POV.

That didn't go as I wanted to but still, we have a sort of group now. I hear the front door open and Olivia storms back inside. "Are they gone?" She whispers. "Yes." A face of relief is shown on her face. A second after that my father walks inside. He smells like liquor and his eyes aren't really awake. He walks to the couch and lets himself fall onto it. I pulled Olivia into the kitchen. "What did you do?"  I ask but not with an angry voice. "I just couldn't stall him any other way. He wanted to go back so badly I just bought us a couple of drinks." "A couple?" "Maybe a few more than a couple." "He has to work tomorrow." "I know, I'm sorry." I laugh "You did make my father kind of happy again, right." "You had to see him. He was singing and dancing." "Than I forgive you." "Thanks, but did your meeting work?" "At first not, Natalie paralyzed Niall, and Ethan was attacking Niall but it worked out." "Great, now go to sleep. You have to go to school tomorrow." Olivia says and laughs at me. I walk upstairs and quickly change into my pajamas. I'm tired. Today was a long day.

I wake up by the sound of my alarm going off. The second time this morning. I snoozed my alarm already so I have to get up now.  I take a cold shower to make sure I'm awake for school. I don't want to fall asleep in school because  I already missed a lot of lessons. I put on biker shorts and a flannel I stole from Luke. I hesitate between some simple shoes or just really chunky shoes but I go for the simple ones. I apply only some mascara and put my hair in a messy bun. My dad is sitting at the kitchen island, his hand against his head. "You okay dad?" I ask him. My dad looks up at me and shakes his head. "Never let me go out with her again. She can drink." I laugh. I put some coffee in a mug and give it to him. "Thanks. Did you talk with your mother?" he asks me. "No, should I?" "Maybe, she is still your mother." "Yeah, I know. But she hurt us. I can't forgive her yet." My dad sips at his coffee. "Oh, don't do that again. Stop the sad act." My dad looks at me very confused. "Yeah, I know your sad but yesterday you were happy. Don't let what mom did have to much impact on you. Yes I know she was your, I don't know, soulmate or something but everyone has three you know." "Maddie, you're right but I can still be upset. That is my decision." I smile at him and look at the clock. Almost eight. "Sorry got to go. Bye." I quickly pour some coffee in a cup to go and sprint to my car.

I stop at Alex her house. She isn't on her porch yet so I'm early. I text her that I am waiting for her. I open my photos and look at some I took in New York. That was such a nice trip. I want to go again sometimes. I hear some shouting and a door that slams. I look out of my window and see Alex walking to my car. "Hey, something wrong?" I ask her when she wits in the car. "Yes, my dad isn't letting me go to this party tonight." "You always with your parties." "Yeah, you should come to." "No, I think I'm going to skip this one." I still have to be careful where and when I go somewhere. Christopher is still out there. I hate it that I can't tell Alex why. We always go to parties together. "Do you know if Natalie will be at school today?" Alex asks me. "No, why?" "Maybe she can go with me." "I don't know if she is the right type for a party." "You sure. You should have seen her this summer by her dad. We went to all sorts of parties. Themes and that sort of stuff." "Okay, you can always ask her." Alex grabs the aux cord and connects her phone with it. She puts on the song that we love. We both sing along the song.

Why is this day so boring. All the lessons were some easy quizzes and by art, we did some doodling. The only lesson left is French. I'm not looking forward to this lesson. I always loved French but now I hate it. Not the languages but the lessons. And who gives the lessons. I think of skipping it but I don't think that's a good idea. I already skipped a week. I take place at a table on the right side of the room. A little in the back so maybe he doesn't notice me. Luke sits next to me and in front of me Alex. Alex is on her phone, searching for outfits she can wear tonight. "Hello everyone, welcome, let's begin with a pop quiz about something you all love." Christopher says and looks at Alex. "Miss Cruz." Alex looks up and puts her phone in her bag. "I'm so sorry I just have to find the perfect outfit for tonight." "You don't have to explain miss Cruz. But what is tonight." "A party." Alex stammers and looks at her nails. "A party, on a Tuesday?" Alex nods and hides behind her hair. I have never seen her so awkward and shy.

It's almost the end of the lesson and I still haven't found any other reason than I missed so many lessons to skip this lesson. I just should have skipped it. It's so boring. Alex has her phone back in her hands and is again looking for outfits. Natalie agreed to go with her but I have the feeling something is going to happen there. "Well that was it for today," Christopher says and he opens the door. Everyone is standing up and putting their stuff in their bags. I have a lot of stuff on my table and begin to shove it all in my bag. I won't be the last one to leave. Luke is waiting for me by the door and Alex is almost out the door. I panic as I see he closes the door after Alex. "Excuse me I still have to leave," I say. Christopher turns around and walks towards me. "Oh, I know. I just wanted to talk." "Oh okay." I set a step back and wait for him to say anything. "I noticed that you were kind of off today. Is everything okay?" "Yes, I can't find a reason why not." "You also did that pop quiz the worst of everyone in this classroom." "I did, oh. I'm sorry." "You sure nothing is wrong?" "I just slept really bad yesterday. It was a long night." I say and look at the door. The small part of glass lets me see the hallway. Luke is standing there with his fist balled. He is also calling someone. I hope it's Niall or Ethan. I have to get out of here. "Then that's it. I'm sorry for stopping you. Drive safe." He gives me a hand and I walk to the door. "Wait, Maddie." He says. I turn around just before the door. Luke is hand is waving at me. "I saw in the school register your name is Richards. I have the feeling your last name is different." I shake my head. I want to say something but I can't. Luke his eyes widen. "Don't lie Maddie Richards." My breathing is getting heavier. "Or should I say, Maddie Moreau." I immediately turn around and open the door. I grab Luke his and whisper to him. "RUN!"
