Chapter 36

Alex and I sneak down to get a bag of chips. My father fell asleep on the couch and is snoring very loud. I just told her how I feel about Luke. Alex said I should do what makes me happy. The only one who knows what I want is Olivia, and my secret is safe with her. Yesterday I had a really good talk with Alex. It's all right now between us. Something very special also happened. I took the vampire out of Alex with my powers and now she is human again and we can grow old together. I talked a lot with Alex during the sleepover. I finally feel a little happy again. The last four days have been horrible. Alex has a kind of gift that she can make me happy. Tomorrow, actually today, we will see Natalie again at school and we can tell her the good news. I still haven't talked to Luke either. I think I should do that but I just don't want to see him. I've already sent a message to Niall. I thanked him for trying to save Olivia after all, he didn't respond but it doesn't matter. I haven't seen the two boys after the funeral either. I decide to text Luke anyway.

"Hey, haven't been seen for a long time. Where are you? I miss you Xx. "

I miss him. Now that I think about it, quite a bit. I put my phone away again and Alex and I walk upstairs again. "I missed this." Says Alex and she grabs some chips. "Me too," I say and I lie on my bed. I grab my computer and turn on a movie. It's a comedy so Alex and I do laugh a lot. We try to keep it as quiet as possible but sometimes it just can't. Alex runs out of the room because she is peeing with laughter. I now have to laugh even louder and I pause the film. I check the time and see that it is already half-past two. I call Alex back to the room and we decide to go to sleep anyway.

I wake up from Alex rummaging in my closet looking for an outfit. I also get out of bed and take a quick shower before helping Alex with an outfit. When I come back I see that she has already chosen an orange shirt and jeans. It is cooling down a lot this week so I also choose normal jeans and a blouse. I brush my hair and put a low bun in it. I also put on Olivia's necklace. "It is beautiful." Says Alex. "Yes, Olivia had style. But this one had more meaning. " I say. "I think it's lovely." Alex puts her hair in a high ponytail and waits for me to go downstairs. We make some cornflakes and eat it. "Where is your mother anyway?" Ask Alex suddenly. I almost choke on the cornflakes. Haven't I told Alex yet? "Uh, well you know my dad cheated on my mom?" Alex nods. "That wasn't the case, he had to keep my secret while I didn't even know about it." "So your mom got even angrier because he lied?" "If only it were that. No, she cheated on my dad with another man and she fell in love with him. Since that day that I confronted her, I haven't heard from her again. " "Wow, I didn't see that coming." Alex takes the last bite of her cereal and puts her bowl in the dishwasher. My phone vibrates and I see I'm getting a message from Luke.

"Yes, was in a big city with Niall for a while so we could satisfy our hunger. We were also a bit down by what happened. Come to the cabin today, I'd like to see you. "

" I say and Natalie gives me a strange look. Alex walks in and stands next to me. "Alex, what happened to your face?" Asks Natalie and she gets up and turns Alex's face. "But why aren't you healed? No, that's impossible. " Natalie looks at Alex's arm and her mouth falls open. Alex nods and sits at a table next to Natalie. Natalie slowly sinks into the chair and is still amazed that this has happened. "How?" Natalie asks me. "I don't know, my strength has grown since Olivia died," I say and I take a seat on the other side of Natalie. "But how, I still don't get it," Natalie mutters and the teacher closes the door.

The list of the people who have been chosen for the cheer team hangs in the hall and many people walk there to see if they have been chosen for their club. As expected, I was not chosen. Natalie does, but she doesn't know if she's going without Alex or me. The three of us walk to my car and we get in. We decided to go to the cabin to teach Alex a few things. The ride does not take long because we have put on nice music and are singing along. We arrive and I see Luke walking out. I quickly get out and give him a hug. "Okay before you start looking at me funny. I made Alex human again. Something about my dream world. " I say. Luke gives me a strange look and then looks at Alex getting out of the car. "Is she happy about it?" Luke asks me. "Yes, she never wanted to be a vampire, and she would rather have that scar than be a dead creature." Luke turns his head. "Hey, I didn't mean it that way." I turn Luke's head back towards me and give him a kiss. Natalie and Alex have already gone inside. "We have to teach and tell Alex everything. She said something about going to hunt vampires that she doesn't like. " I say. "Let me guess, Christopher." Luke smiles and we walk in together. Natalie is sitting at the table and has already found something to eat. Alex can't believe her eyes in the cabin. She probably likes it just as much as I do. The somewhat elderly furniture in the house is beautiful. The atmosphere in the house is a bit nervous. "Alex, we need to explain a few things to you before you take on a vampire, especially an old one," Luke says and puts a chest on the table. Alex walks to the table and looks at the chest. Luke opens it up and starts getting things out of it. Silver and wooden stakes. The bracelet I wore is also included. Many more things are in it. "First I want to try something, this ring keeps a vampire out of your mind and you can just keep doing what you want." Luke puts the ring on the table and walks over to Alex. "First I'm going to try something." Luke says and he grabs Alex's face and stares into her eyes. "Hmm, I can't see your thoughts, do what I say and tell me what you're thinking and then slap your hand on the table," Luke says. Alex slaps Luke in the face and stares at him. Why should I tell you what I'm thinking about and why should I slam my hand on the table? " Alex says and she gets out behind. "Okay she's immune to us vampires, but she still has the power in her." Luke cracks his jaw and his neck. "Okay next thing," Alex says and she takes a stake. "You can kill a vampire with that, put it right in his heart, and the vampire is gone." Luke says and he gives the silver one to Alex. "This one is for a werewolf. Not that I think you will ever kill one, but still. " "Are there werewolves? Do you also have eternal hate for each other?" Alex asks. "Well sometimes. Christopher didn't say anything?" "No, actually not, just that he needed Maddie. Speaking of that, I know his next plan. " Says Alex. Natalie sets her food on the side. "No, not now. First, you have to learn everything, including what Natalie has to say. " Luke says and gets some things from the chest related to witches. "Sorry guys, I don't want to be annoying but I have to go home," I say and heads turn to me. "I received a message from my father that my mother is back." I sigh and put my phone in my bag. "I'll be back as soon as possible, but I'm also going to make a stop with Jenny," I say and I walk away to my car.

I really don't feel like this at all. Of course, my mother is going to talk again about how great her new boyfriend is. I have to make it up to her because she's my mother. She should have just trusted my dad even if he said he cheated. She just shouldn't have cheated herself. We were such a happy family. Everything this year went differently than I wanted. Yet I am also glad that some things have happened. I'm also scared of what's to come. So Christopher is still in town so we have to be careful. He also already has the next step he wants to take.
