I'm in shock. Why is this happening to me? The people I trusted the most are the one putting others in danger. But that means that I have been dating a vampire for over six months. My head is exploding. I have to call Jenny and tell her, but what if they are going to kill Luke and Niall. They can not do that. I have to hear the story from Luke before I tell Ethan and Jenny. Luke his face healed after the fight with Ethan. I knew something was wrong. What am I suppose to do? Before I know it, I'm dialing Luke his number. "Maddie" I hear Luke his voice and I don't know what I am supposed to say. Should I ask him over or just confront him over the phone. "Are you okay?" Luke's voice is deep. Why is this happening now? "Maddie, say something or I will come to your house." Maybe that is the best thing, him to come to my house. My father left a few minutes ago so we can talk inside a house. "Alright, Maddie I've had enough of this. I'm coming to your house." Luke hangs up the phone and I sit in the chair. Tears run across my face. I just don't know what I should do with this situation.
I hear a car stopping in front of my house. Earlier than I thought. He must have driven over the speed limit. I hear a hard know on my front door and I stand up and walk slowly to the door. My face covered in dry tears but my eyes are still bloodshot. When I open the door Luke his eyes flash over my face. "What's wrong," Luke asks. I can't speak. I just walk away from the door to the couch. Luke closes the door and sits next to me on the couch. I turn to him and ask him the question. "Luke, are you a vampire?" Luke his pupils widen and his breathing goes a lot faster. "What do you mean Maddie. That is just myths. That history project is driving you crazy." Luke is voice is sharp but still deep. "No, it's not. You know I said I talked to Jenny." "You talked to Jenny when was that?" Luke fires a question back before I can explain everything. "A few days ago, she had to say something to me. That myths are true. Everything you didn't believe in, was reality. Since I found that out I studied everything about the myths." Luke is eyes never left mine after I started my story. "Maddie what you are saying makes no sense," Luke says. "Yes it does, you are wearing that ring. That means you and Niall are vampires. I read that before I called you. I almost told Jenny and Ethan because." "Because what, what the hell does Ethan have to do with this!" Luke his voice is sharp and angry. I almost start to cry again but I will not give in. "You know what Ethan and Jenny are Luke. They trust me because they felt safe with me. I was someone they had to protect but I was going to protect them. It all made no sense when I heard it before but everything is falling into place right now. Your face healed in a second when Ethan hit you." I stare into Luke his eyes. His eyes leave mine and he begins to talk. "Well, I think you are going crazy right now so I don't know what Jenny has told you but it isn't true. I think you desperately want it to be true so you are seeing things that are not real." Luke's voice repeats in my head. He isn't taking me seriously. But he is the vampire I am sure about it. I stand up and walk upstairs. Luke follows me and grabs my arm. I shake him off and begin to rip all the papers from my notebook. Everything I wrote was going to be destroyed. All my research. Luke watches me and sees all the research I have done for it. All the papers fall onto the ground and I fall down on my knees and begin to cry. "All the research I have had done is all gone now. Luke, I know you are the vampire in this town. Niall is one too and you can not make any other excuses anymore." Luke stands right in front of me and grabs my waist to pull me right up. "Okay, Maddie you win. But if you want me to tell you everything you have to wait until tomorrow and don't tell Ethan or Jenny. There will be a lot of problems if you do." Luke grabs my face and gives me a kiss. He opens my window and jumps out of it. I walk to the window and see Luke getting into his car.
...
I wake up the next morning and see all the papers lying on the ground. I carefully grab the papers and put them back in the notebook. It is finally the weekend. It has only been one week at school but it seems like a month. Everything that happened. I grab a pair of ripped jeans and a pink crop top out of my closet and walk to the bathroom. My mom is supposed to come home tomorrow but maybe she will be staying longer. I hope not. I step into the shower and the warm water feels great against my body. Today is the day I am going to talk to Luke. I have a good feeling about it. He is going to explain everything from his side. I only have heard it from the werewolf side so maybe they are making it worse then it is. I step out of the shower and put my outfit on. I apply some natural make-up and curl my hair. It isn't that long but I like it. My brown hair has been shoulder-length since I went to high school. Maybe it is time to grow it out. I put a hair tie around my arm in case I want to put a ponytail in my hair.
When I walk downstairs I see my dad sitting on the couch watching the news. "Good morning dad, do you want something for breakfast?" I am surprised when my dad has already made his own. My dad never makes breakfast for himself. Me or my mom always do that for him. I grab some fruit out of my mom's garden and chop them. I put it in the blender with some ice and yogurt to make a smoothie. I pour the smoothie in a glass and go outside to sit on the porch. Cars passing by and some early birds jogging. Maybe I have to run a mile also. I have to build my condition again if I will make it to the cheer team again. If I didn't drop out half past the year I wouldn't have to try out again. I walk back inside and look at my phone if Luke has sent me a message. My screen is black so I decide to go and run a mile. I change my outfit for sport shorts and a sports bra. I plug my earphones in and begin my mile.
I come home and cannot breathe. My condition has been going backward since I left the cheer team. I still haven't got a message from Luke. Maybe he has forgotten it. Should I call Jenny? I walk upstairs and take another shower and put on the outfit I wore before. My dad went to his workroom and is busy working and that sort of stuff. I send my mom a message asking what time she will back tomorrow. I look at Luke his name and see no message. 'Are we still up for the talk?' I send I'm the message and walk downstairs. I can't wait any longer for Luke. He has to tell me right now or I will call Jenny. Do not tell Ethan or Jenny. There will be a lot of problems if you do. Luke his voice repeats inside my head. What problems? I know that they are like enemy's but Jenny and Luke were friends before all of this. My phone buzzes and I see Luke had texted me back. 'Yeah I will pick you up in 10.' That is quick. I walk to my dad is workroom and see him still calling and typing stuff into his computer. I leave a note at the kitchen to tell him that I left and walk outside and see Luke his car. An old car I notice. I always liked his car but never searched reasons behind it why it is an old model. Now I know. I step into the passenger seat and say nothing. Luke drives away from my home and leave me with one question. Where are we going?
