It is dark outside, me and Luke sitting in the car headed for New York is weird. It is Monday and the second week of school. I don't know but this trip seems just so much important than school right now. Luke grabs my hand and squeezes it lightly. I smile at him and lay my head onto the window. The window is cold. My thoughts are a bit unclear right now. What will I say if I meet Olivia for the first time? Or does she see me coming? I love it when the music is playing in the car, not on a high volume but a low volume. I can hear luke breathing. His eyes focus on the road. Why is he so perfect? "What are you thinking Maddie? Regrets about leaving?" Luke says. "No, not at all. I think if I meet Olivia she can explain some stuff to me." "Like you should explain to me why we are headed for new york except that your cousin lives there." "Yes, sorry I forgot to tell you why." "Tell me when you're ready. I hope it is before we are in new york." he chuckles lightly after he says that. I know he wants to know but I'm very tired right now and I have to get some strength for when we arrive in New York. "I will tell you, I promise. First I'm going to take a nap. When you get tired please say then I can drive for a bit." "Okay, I will wake you in an hour then you can drive. I need some sleep too." "When you wake me maybe we can have some breakfast?" "I will search for something near and drive us there, now go to sleep." "Okay," I mumble and grab a blanket and rest my head against the window.

Luke wakes me and we are at a small diner next to the highway. It is light outside now and a lot warmer than yesterday. I feel a bit sweaty with my hoodie and sweatpants. I step out of the car and the warm air breezes against my cheeks. I open the trunk and open my bag. The first thing I see is a denim skirt and a pink crop top. Luke walks past me and hugs me from behind. "you ready for breakfast?" luke asks me. I nod and walk with him to the diner. Some truckers and other people that were on the road for a long time are inside. When we enter people are staring at us. We walk to the counter and wait until the lady is ready to take our order. "Hello, welcome to Mandy's diner. What brings such young people here?" the lady asks. "We are going to New York to visit family," I respond but luke stares at me. I ignore him and smile at the lady. "Shouldn't you be at school, or is it still summer break?" The lady keeps asking questions. "No, but we graduated last year and this is the year when we are taking a break from school. I haven't decided to what college I want to. But can we take our order?" I ask as friendly as possible. "Of course honey, sorry if I made you uncomfortable. What will it be?" "Can we have a black coffee and a latte macchiato. For food can we have one plate of pancakes?" "Alright is coming up, go ahead and chose a table." 

We walk away from the lady and chose a table at the window. "Why did you say we were going to New York and we are just road-tripping?" Luke asks. "Relax, we will never see her again, and maybe if we said we were senior she would call the police or something. I just don't want to go back." "I don't think she would call the police. There are a lot of vague types here. Just be careful what you say Mads." "I will, but I'm going to change because this outfit is to hot for this weather. Be right back." I smile at luke to make sure I'm okay and leave for the bathroom. I change my outfit for the denim skirt and the pink crop top. I look at myself in the mirror. My eyes have dark circles under them from al the sleeping I missed the past few days. I don't have make-up with me so I have to go with the dark circles. I walk back to the table and see Luke already eating some of the pancakes. "Are they good?" I ask. Luke shrugs. "Well I'm hungry so I think I will enjoy them." A remember pops up in my head that he is a vampire so he drinks blood. "Are you thirsty?" My question surprises him. "A little, but it is manageable." I nod and take a bite of the pancakes. We finish our breakfast and walk back to the car. "Do you still want to drive?" Luke asks me. "Yeah, but not that on because I'm still tired. I will drive for an hour and then we will switch." "Yeah sure." We step into the car and I take some snacks from my bag and give them to luke. "Luke I think you should drink some of my blood. You are thirsty and I will not take the chance that you will drink from me when I'm asleep." Luke chuckles but opens a bag of Cheetos. "Luke, I wasn't joking." My tone is a little bit harsher than before. "Are you sure?" "Otherwise I wouldn't suggest it." "Okay then but say when it hurts." His expression is a bit worried. "Luke. I'm your girlfriend I should do this sort of stuff for you." Luke grabs my wrist and moves it slowly to his mouth. I think he is scared to hurt me. His vangs go into my wrist. It does hurt a little but it manageable. Before I know it he pulls away and covers my arm with a napkin. "Do you have bandages?" Luke asks "No I don't but I can ask in the diner." "No that is not necessary. If you don't mind it whit your wrist." I look at my wrist and see a small wound but not that big. "No not necessary." I smile.

When we pull up at the highway it is still a long time before we are in New York. I texted Alex that I wasn't coming to school. I did not tell her why. I called the school to say I'm sick so I think that is what everybody is going to know. Unless Luke told Niall and he told the others. I don't think so because they don't know anything about vampires and that sort of stuff. I still have to tell Luke why we are going to New York. Luke is awake and looking out of the window. "I'm ready to talk about it. I will tell you everything." After two hours I'm driving. I can tell Luke is a bit tired. "Okay, tell me." "Yesterday I found out what type of supernatural I'm." "What, why didn't you tell me sooner?" "I, I was just tired and I am going to tell you right now." Luke his expression is cooling down. "Don't freak out if you know what it is because it is very rare so." "Just tell me, Maddie." "I'm a predictor." "Your a what?" "So you don't know what it is. A predictor is a supernatural who can see things happen and have visions about stuff. Like one time I saw My grandmother in my dream. About her, she is Marion Moreau and I called her for answers and she told me about Olivia." The words are coming out of my mouth like a waterfall. "Wait you're a Moreau? Make sense." "What do you mean by that?" "Just how you are acting, I knew your grandmother. She didn't know me but I knew her. Every vampire or werewolf was afraid of her, because of the thing she did. Just tell me you're not exactly like her." "I have never talked to her until yesterday so I think not." My phone rings and I see it is my dad. 

"Dad!" I say. "Maddie where are you?" My dad is screaming. Because the phone is connected to the car it just is louder than I expected. "I'm in the car." "Why are you in the car. In whose car are you because yours is still by the house." "I'm with Luke." I try to stay calm. "Where are you going? And why did you leave? Your mom just came home." "Please tell mom I'm staying at Alex because she will be too worried." "Just because I love your mom, I will not tell her. Where are you going again?" "None of your business. I'm capable of handling myself and I have Luke with me." "Okay for this one time, but I'm very mad at you Maddie. You cannot just vanish in your second week of school with your boyfriend after you heard some shocking news." "I know dad but you wouldn't have let me go if I asked." "Your right. Promise you will be back before Friday." "I promise." I hang up the phone and look at Luke. I can't read his expression. "Luke, I'm sorry if I freaked you out. Just trust me. I need this." "I trust you, Maddie. Just promise me one thing." "What?" "Never do this again without permission. I'm immortal but you are one of the most special supernatural." "I promise, and do not call me that. I will always be Maddie Richards." "I love you, Maddie." He lays his hand on my thigh and squeezes it.
