Chapter 34

One of the men runs up to me with the same look Alex had in the bar. I feel Olivia take my shoulder and squeeze it for a moment. I slowly slide the cap off the bottle that is attached to my bracelet and when the man just cannot touch me I put my wrist forward so that the powder comes over him. He falls to the ground and can do nothing more. Immediately the only woman comes after him and runs towards us. "Buck!" Olivia shouts and starts shooting at the woman. She misses everything. Natalie shouts out some words in a foreign language and the vampire's neck turns on its own and she falls to the ground. I can see Niall and Luke having a hard time controlling their own kind, Niall is able to put the stake in the vampire's heart faster than Luke can. Niall speeds to Luke and stabs the other. Christopher's look is furious. "How is this possible, why?" He says and he looks at Alex. Alex shrugs. Christopher whistles on his fingers and six more vampires enter. How are we ever going to win this I think to myself.

Behind me, Olivia is tinkering with the new bullets for the rifle and next to me Natalie is shouting some strange words in a language I don't know. Luke gives Niall a new stake and they both run towards a different vampire. Alex looks around what is happening. I check the bottle to see if there is anything left in it, only it is empty. Natalie pushes a bottle into my hand with the remaining ashes she made. "I knew you wouldn't have enough." She says and gives me a wink. I take some of the ashes in my hand and throw it over the nearest vampire, this one also falls to the ground, right next to the other. I put a few steps aside to give Olivia a freer shot. This time she hits. "Nice shot." I say and I grab some powder in my hand again. Suddenly one of the vampires is behind me and grabs me. I throw the powder on him and the vampire falls. Natalie walks to the side to help the boys and more and more vampires walk in. One by one I recognize them from the news, so all these people were not killed by Alex but she turned them into a vampire. Suddenly the barista is in front of me. "You don't have to do this." I say. "But I'm so hungry." Says the barista and he walks to me. Olivia shot him right when he wants to bite me. "Thanks." I say and I step more towards her. There is only enough in the bottle to paralyze 1 vampire. "And now?" I ask Olivia. Olivia shrugs. More and more vampires are entering the canteen. Luke and Niall have already killed several but I can see they are having a hard time. Natalie tried to catch Christopher with her spells but it doesn't work. Suddenly the lights go out and it is dark. "Maddie?" I hear Olivia calling. I slowly slide through the dark looking for Olivia. I feel her hand and take it. "AAHHH!" Olivia screams, feeling the hand slip from my grasp. I also feel someone hitting his arm around my neck behind me. The lights come back on and Natalie sits on the ground, her veins on her arms very clearly visible. The color is black. I think she's going too far with her powers. I look behind me and see a random guest standing behind me, his arm around my neck. His grip is firm but I can still breathe. I look to the side and see that Olivia has exactly the same. Luke and Niall stand with a stake in their hand, watching us being held. "Let them go!" Luke says. "And why should I? I finally have the two youngest of the Moreau line. " Christopher says. "If you want revenge on my grandmother if necessary, go and see her." I say. "Of course not, the day she dies from the madness in her head will come. I can achieve much more with you than with her, you are so innocent and young. I now get my own predictor line and call it the Ordeaux. " Christopher smiles a little, then looks stern again. "Take only me, spare Olivia." I say. Olivia shakes her head. "No, take me." She says "How nice. The two Moreau girls who want to go for each other so that the other one leads a free life. You know I've heard all about you. " Christopher points to Olivia. "Not quite complete, right?" Olivia shakes her head. "But you still have your powers under control more than you think." Christopher steps forward. Niall speeds towards him and is now in front of him. The stake in his hand is very tense, towards Christopher's heart. Do it now. I think to myself but Niall doesn't move. Luke looks at Niall hopefully. "You know it's not smart." Says Christopher. He grabs the stake and turns it over to Niall's heart. "Just a tap and you're done, now get out of my way." Niall steps to the side and drops the stake to the floor. Helplessly he watches how Christopher gets closer to Olivia and me. "You know all the hassle of trying to find the next Moreau, couldn't you have just come to me? Then your already so good girlfriend wasn't a vampire now. " I watch Alex lower her head. I think she's having a hard time with what's going on here. For the first time since she's been a vampire, I see another look on her face that I know. Her face is full of guilt. I am sorry to see her like this, she could not have known he wanted this either. Christopher grabs my chin and lifts my head. I try to turn my head away but it's too strong. "Let's play a game first, see if you are as smart as you are strong." Christopher says. "If you find the two vampire friends and your witch within half an hour, I'll take only one of you. A location is enough. " I look around to see that Luke, Niall, and Natalie have indeed disappeared. They can be anywhere because vampires can run fast. "Let go of me, then we can concentrate better." I say and I look hopefully at Christopher. "And give you a chance to escape, don't think so." The two vampires holding me and Olivia walk towards each other a bit so we can hold hands. I take a quick look at Alex who is looking at us with wide eyes. I take Olivia's hands and close my eyes.
