I wake up in my own bed. My bag is on my chair next to the window and it is dark outside. I'm starving. Oh no. Niall didn't turn me into a vampire right? I grab some scissors and prick it into my finger. A little bit of blood pops up but it doesn't heal immediately. My door opens and Luke walks in. "What are you doing?" I look at my finger and at Luke. "Nothing, I was just checking." "Niall just drank your blood until you passed out. I healed you before you died." "Oh wow." I hated Niall before but now even more. Why would he just kill me? He didn't but almost. "Can I have some food?" I ask Luke and he walks away. It is my fault. If I wasn't so curious then it wouldn't have happened and I just lived my normal life. But I now live in this world and nothing can change that anymore. My stomach rumbles and Luke comes upstairs with a plate of Chinese food. "Since when do we have Chinese food here?" I laugh and take the plate. "I brought it with me when I brought you here. I told your parents that you were sleeping." "Ah, some sort of peace offering. You know my dad knows what you are right?" "I kinda figured that out." We both laugh.

I walk downstairs with my plate and put it in the dishwasher. "Hello, Maddie nice to see you awake." My mom walks into the kitchen and hugs me. "Mom I missed you." "You went away the second I came home. It is not my fault that you went to Alex." Right Alex. "I'm sorry. I hadn't seen her in a long time and we just planned it wrong." "Don't worry, you're here right now." "Where is dad?" "Just sitting in the living room talking to the newslady." "Mom it will be okay, I love you." I kiss her on the cheek and walk to the living room. My dad is sitting on the couch and switching between channels. "Hello, dad." "Maddie." "I'm here, as I promised." "Passed out." "I'm sorry. Thanks for not telling mom." "I just wouldn't want her to worry." "Dad why don't we tell her it. She would understand more. I just don't like lying to her." "We will put her in danger if we do. I cannot protect you both." "I have others who protect me." "You mean the vampires who almost killed you?" "He can hear you." "I don't care." "Yes, and I have werewolves who are protecting me." "So you are siding with werewolves and vampires. Not the best idea I think." "It is going good for now. I also have Olivia and Natalie." "I think they are the ones you should trust not those other creatures." "What do you have against them?" "We just grew up and learned to hate them. Just go upstairs and be with him. I can't look at you right now." I turn around. "Well, If you hate me so much maybe I will tell mom." I walk away. My dad slams the remote on the coffee table and stands up. I just reach the door to the hallway and my mom walks inside. "So tell me Willaim, what does she want to tell me that you can't do?" My dad freezes and says nothing. "Maddie go upstairs, I don't want you to be here right now." I nod and walk upstairs.  I wait at the top of the stairs and hear my mom say. "Willaim you cannot leave such a burden on that girl. I don't care if you cheated again. You can't let that girl carry your secret." Here we go again. The same conversation we had five years ago. I hope she doesn't forgive him and dumps my dad. I can finally tell her what is going on and just live with my mom. No contact with my grandmother anymore.

I feel Luke his hands on my shoulders and I turn around. "You okay? I heard everything." Luke asks me. "I'm fine." I walk to my bedroom and throw the bag on to the floor. I sit in the chair where it all began. What if it just didn't happen. I hear Luke walk in. He takes place on my bed. "You sure?" "No, yes, I don't know." "My mom has to go through such a pain for nothing because he didn't cheat." "I know. Your dad is right you know." "Serious your siding with my dad?" "No, I'm just telling you if your mother doesn't know anything she will be safer then if she knows." "But she doesn't deserve this." "I know. I tried to keep it from you as long as possible but you found out yourself." "You were never planning on telling me right?" "I was. I just didn't know how." "I don't believe you." "Then you don't. You have to trust me, it's for the best." "Why is my dad like this? He grew up to hate your kind." "That is just Marion." "You knew her right?" "Yes." "Tell me, how was she?" "Maddie I don't think this is a good idea." "I'm asking you, just tell me." "Alright then. Marion was a beautiful girl, just like you. I went to school with her. She learned about her powers when she was in high school.  Everyone adored her. She wasn't shy about her powers, she told everyone. People started asking her about their future and that sort of stuff. She got obsessed with it and began searching for ways to get more powers. She found out her grandmother and aunt were all predictors. She killed all of them. She gained more and more powers. She began to search for more but there was none in Maryville anymore. People didn't see she was going crazy because they didn't know about the supernatural. She had children. The first girl she had wasn't a predictor. Marion was mad. She had more children until she had another daughter. That is why she had five children. When her fifth child was a girl she let that child develop her powers and then she just killed her own child. I know all of this because I was here to protect my father. He was on his deathbed. I loved him very much. So I faked a lead about a predictor in France that was living alone." "How, why?" "It wasn't safe here for others. You were born and I knew you were a predictor. I couldn't see another girl from the Moreau family that got killed because of this crazy woman." "You knew about me?" "Yes, I'm sorry. I should have told you earlier. I was protecting you." "Why does everyone say that. I don't need protection." "I think you do. After what Olivia said to you I thought maybe you're next. Then that attack was happening." "I thought you couldn't hear us. Olivia said there was a spell." "I asked the lady that the spell could be lifted because you needed protection and I just didn't trust Olivia." "I trust her. And you called Niall." "For protection because you needed it. I knew after you told me it was going to be messy in New York. If it isn't your grandmother it can be some other vampire who needs a prediction about his life." "That was the only time I needed help and you weren't there. Luke, please go. I need to progress this." "You can't be alone. There is another vampire here.." "Luke, I said go! I don't need protection." "Alright but call me when something is not right." Luke walks downstairs. I hear the front door open and close. A car drives away and I lay on my bed.

I wake up and I sit in a beautiful garden. Flowers in all colors. I look around me and see nobody. How did I get here? "Maddie?" I look around but see nobody. Olivia walks on a path towards me. She is dressed in a beautiful white dress. I smile and wait for her. I stand up. The grass tickets against my feet. I see that I'm dressed in a flowy light blue dress. The wind is light and makes the dresses look even more beautiful. Olivia hugs me and we walk together to a table. The white chairs and table are beautiful next to all these colors. "I think you are wondering what you are doing here?" Olivia asks. "Yeah, I am." "I needed to tell you something." "How are you doing this?" "Oh, I'm not doing this. I asked Betty to do this spell so I could see you. I used one of my dream worlds. I hope you like it." "It's beautiful." "Okay back to what I was going to say." The hourglass on the table is almost done. "I have the feeling we don't have much time," I say and point to the hourglass. "No, we don't. So I'm going to tell it quickly." "I'm listening." "You have to be careful in Maryville. There is something coming, I saw it in a vision. I haven't seen it clear yet but I will." "I don't get it." "You will know. I will drive to Mayville tomorrow. I hope I got the vision all clear so I know what we're dealing with." "I can't wait to see you again." The garden is fading. I see Olivia's mouth moving but I can't hear anything. I smile at here to make sure I'm going to be okay.
