I wake up and Luke is already in the shower. I think today I'm going back to school. I have missed almost the whole week but today are the tryouts and I don't want to stand up Alex. I have trained for the tryouts so I'm going to it. I stand up and look in my bag for any clean clothes. Only a purple dress with ruffles. Luke comes out of the bathroom and puts on his everyday look, a black t-shirt with ripped black jeans. "Luke, I'm going to school today." "Okay, you need to hurry then." I look at my phone for the time and see it is already 8 am. I run to the bathroom and take a quick shower and then go downstairs to grab some coffee. All my books are at home so I have to borrow from Alex or Luke. Luke is already in the car and waiting for me. He is sipping from his blood bag and pours the rest of it in a cup. "Please don't take that with you in class," I say. "Do you think I'm stupid?" Luke laughs and drives away from the cabin. "Why doesn't Niall drive with us?" "He has his own car here and he isn't planning on going to school today." "Why not?" "He wouldn't tell me." I sigh. Niall is doing weird ever since I found out what he did. His personality just changed a lot. I don't recognize him anymore. I drink the last of my coffee and look out the window and watch the trees and clouds.
We arrive at school but we are late. I hope they are letting us in and if not I hope Luke will compel them. We have French. I'm excited to follow french again. I missed it. It is also weird because of my grandmother. I open the door of the classroom and everyone looks at us. "Great that you decided to join us miss Richards." Mr. Johnson says. "I'm sorry. It's my fault. I was dizzy this morning so I had to wait until I felt better." I say. "Just take a seat." I like Mr. Johnson. I first hated that we got another teacher but he is nice. I take place at an empty table. Luke finds another empty table and I ask the person next to me if she has a pencil and some paper for me. I quickly make notes but I already knew everything. "Alright, everyone. Pencils down. We are now going to do some sort of test." Mr. Johnson announces. Some people mumble about that this isn't fair. "I wrote words on the board but first you have to make a team." Mr. Johnson waits for us to make teams. Natalie, Alex, Luke, and I decided to form a team and we get ready to take this test. "I will now open the board. The first team that had everything correct doesn't have to make homework." Alex looks at me and says. "If you fail this you will make mine." She smiles and Natalie laughs.
The board opens and there is a story in french that we have to translate. I can do this. I translate the first words and notice it is a story from last week's newspaper. I put my hand in the air and wait until Mr. Johnson is by our group. "Well, that was quick Maddie. I missed you in these lessons. But are you sure you know the answer? Only half a minute has passed." I look around and see all the people puzzling with the words. "Yeah, I know it. For sure. On the paper in front of me are just the worst Sophie and supermarket written. "Okay, if you are so sure then tell me." "Sophie went to the supermarket and bought some bread and herbs. She went home and found her mother dead on the floor. She screamed and waited until the police arrived. Turned out she was killed by some sort of animal." "That is correct. Wow Maddie you have a natural talent for French." I smile and see the other teams putting their pens down and looking at me. "That means we have a winner. Maddie's team doesn't have to make any homework for the rest these are the exercises." Mr. Johnson announces. "Great work Maddie," Alex says and hugs me. I can't help but smile.
The cheer tryouts went horrible. All I could do was look at Luke being the captain of the football team. He recruiting new members for the team. He just looks ten times hotter on the field than on normal days. I saw Ethan trying out. It remembered me that I also want to talk with him about Jenny. Jennys has declined my calls all day and she hasn't responded to my texts. She dropped some sort of bomb on me with all that news but I can't talk to her. Now I'm waiting for him to go to the parking lot where I'm waiting. Finally, he walks from the field and I see him walking to his car. "Hey, Ethan." I wave and run towards him. "What's up?" "Well Jenny told me something yesterday and she is ignoring me. So maybe you can answer me." "I will give it a try. First, tell me. Is it true you are a predictor?" I nod. "I know it's weird." Mr. johnson walks past us and greeting us. "Have a nice day mister Johnson." I smile at him and turn back at Ethan. "Alright, what's the deal with Jenny being an alpha?" "Knew you were going to ask that." We both laugh. "Okay, her parents were always the alphas of the pack. For as long as their bloodline goes it is all alphas. When the mother of Jenny was pregnant they wanted to give her a normal childhood. Our pack was never without an alpha because every full moon the parents went back for the turning and teaching the new ones everything. That everyone in that family is a natural leader." "Wait, pause, what do you mean with new ones?" "Well, when you turn sixteen you are turning into a werewolf." "But Jenny was still here when she was sixteen, she moved away when she was seventeen." "First it was okay with them coming and going but some of the wolves were hunted and some of them began rebelling. So they decided to live by the pack." "Wow, that is quite a story. Thanks, but I have to go." I see Luke next to his car waiting for me. "Right, the one I cannot kill because of you." Ethan laughs and steps in his car. I wave him goodbye and then walk towards Luke.
"What were you talking about?" Luke asks me. "I just asked him about Jenny and other werewolf stuff." "Alright, we are going to the cabin. But, it's Friday so you will pack your bags and go home." "But I don't want to." I lean to him and kiss him on the cheek. "No, Maddie you promised your dad. I would like it if you stayed longer but you can't." "Urgh, I know. Well packing my bags it is." The car ride to the cabin is growing on me. All the trees and other cabins, it's just beautiful. I always liked it. The only thing keeping me from going there is Niall.
We arrive and I immediately go upstairs to pack my bags. I hope I can have dinner here with Luke. When I come upstairs I see the door that Niall locked is open. I can't help myself but look inside again. The silver is very bright. I step inside and close the door. I turn on the light and I see a lot of wooden stakes but also silver stakes. Swords are having on the wall, all silver. Why is this hanging here? He is not planning on killing the wolves, right. I walk further and see pictures of Luke and Niall. Some of them dated 1912 and some 1945. Nice to see they kept those memories. I hit my foot against a few boxes. I open them and all of these papers are stacked inside. I grab some of them. The door flies open and Niall comes inside. "I told you to stay out of her. This is none of your business." He grabs my wrist and pulls me to the door. I try to work against him but he stays stronger. I manage to stop him and I shake my wrist from his grip. "Maddie get the hell out of here." His voice is demanding but I stay put. "Dammit Maddie, now I have to hurt you." What the hell is he talking about? Before I know it Niall speeds to me and bends my head. My neck is completely exposed. Niall his teeth sink into my veins. I vaguely see Luke walking inside, but that's it.
