CHAPTER 29- LIKE A STAR

With caution, I climbed the stairs to the second floor of Gabriel's house. Since it was nighttime, the chances of any neighbors spotting me were minimal. My movements were swift, particularly in the darkness, and my skills in this regard were unmatched. I could easily adapt, whether in the presence of light or not.

Earlier, I had been surveilling the area. I spent some time at the house we were occupying, conveniently located nearby.

I unhooked the G-rope I had used for my ascent. This updated version of our rappel cord was sturdier and more adjustable. It was user-friendly, resembling a marker, but when you pressed the on button, the hook and cord extended automatically.

Agad na hinanap ko ang kwartong dapat kong mapasok. Walang ingay na naglakad ako papunta sa kwartong pinapagitnaan ng kwarto ni Gabriel at kwarto ng anak niyang si Andrea at yaya nito.

Nang nasa harap na ako ay kinuha ko sa aking bulsa ang pin at sinubukang i-unlock ang pinto. Nabuksan ko naman kaagad.

Bumukas nang bahagya ang kwarto ng bata kaya agad na pumasok ako at pasimpleng ni-lock ulit iyon. Nanatili akong nakatayo sa may pinto at nakiramdam. Gumalaw-galaw ang doorknob na para bang sinusuri kung lock pa rin ang pinto.

Hmmm? Lakas ng pakiramdam ng mga tao dito, ah? Kung sa kwarto ni Andrea galing ang taong nasa labas ngayon, posible kayang kahit yaya ng bata ay kasabwat sa nangyari sa Snellenn Family?

Minuto pa ang lumipas ay narinig ko na ang mga hakbang papalayo. Marahan na binuksan ko ang pinto at ginawa ang abot sa aking makakaya na huwag gumawa ng ingay.

"Confirmed, it was indeed the house help. It appears that our list of persons of interest is expanding.

I relocked the door and inspected the floor. Using the G-Wrist Watch Detector (GWD) I had, I swiftly located it. The GWD utilized a red light to pinpoint the object or place you were searching for, but it required you to have saved at least an image of the exact item, person, or location in its system. When it came to people, the light adjusted the color of their clothing to blend in, although it wasn't advisable to use it on people due to the high risk of exposure.

As far as I knew, Lovimer created the GWD, and he kept updating it. Almost all of our weapons and equipment bore the letter 'G,' indicating they were GC's properties.

I focused on the spot where the red light stopped and felt a subtle vibration against my skin. I fixed my gaze on it while analyzing.

I applied pressure in that area, resulting in a faint click. I decided not to proceed further because I had a hunch that there were other tools or weapons in this room that I hadn't yet observed, but they were connected to the floor leak. These things could help them to determine if someone was attempting to open it.

Naupo na muna ako sa kama at inilibot ang paningin ko sa kabuuan ng kwarto. Hinanap ko ang G-Camera na inilagay ni Shane dito at agad kong nakita dahil sinabi naman sa akin niya na nasa kisame iyon. Para lang siyang mata ng isda o dumi na nakadikit, adjustable din naman ang size ng camera na ginamit niya.

Aksidente akong napatingin sa headboard ng kama. Napakunot-noo ako. Tama ba ang nakikita ko? Medyo naalerto talaga ako. Kailangan kong makalabas dito agad.

Kinuha ko ang aking phone at kinuhanan iyon ng larawan. Lahat ng bagay na napansin ko sa loob ng kwarto ay kinuhanan ko na rin lahat ng larawan. Maingat ang bawat galaw ko dahil isang maling kilos ko lang ay pwede akong mahulog sa patibong nila.

Shit! Hindi nga siya basta-bastang kalaban.

Nang matapos ako ay sa bintana na ako ng kwarto dumaan. Hindi ko na inisip kung gaano kataas ang tatalonan ko dahil tiwala naman ako sa kakayahan ko at ng G-rope, eh.
