The Promise We Did

Chapter 16

"I'm home" I said opening the door.

I heard footsteps on someone running, it kept getting louder and louder until my mom came into my sight. She brought me into a bone crushing hug again. Except this time... It was having much more force in it.

"Welcome back sweetie" she said , I can see that her voice became a bit heavy when she said that. She was crying.....I know those are tears of happiness so I didn't resist them but wrapped my arms around her aswell.

After a while, we broke the hug. She looked at me with suspicious eyes kinda confusing me.

"What is it mom?" I asked.

"Is it just me or you've gotten taller in 2 years" she said eyeing me from top to bottom.

Now that she's said it, I noticed it aswell. My clothes have certainly gotten smaller for me and the last time I left house I would be same height as her but now I am taller than her. Guess the physical training I went through did shape my body a bit.

"I guess so" I replied scratching my cheek.

Her eyes went on Pikachu on my shoulder.

"Hello Pikachu!" She said offering her arms out again with a bright smile. Pikachu as expected jumped onto her arms then on her shoulder nuzzling his cheeks against hers. She scratched Pikachu on his head while smiling at the gesture. Then she realised something.

"Ash where's Rio- oh he evolved" she said before she noticed Lucario standing behind.

"Well that doesn't mean you don't get a hug too" she said as she freed out one of her arm to let Lucario slip in. He smiled and did as he was indicated.

"Thank you Mam" he said parting a hug.

"You can talk? wow also call me Deila Lucario" she said.

"Ok Mam" he replied, Mom just smiled and sweat dropped.

"Anyway boys, dinner is ready. Get fresh and come in Kitchen for Dinner!" She said heading off into kitchen.

I went ahead and took a bath while Lucario and Pikachu washed their feet and hands off.

The Dinner.... As expected was just delicious. It was after 2  years we finally got to eat something this delicious. Past 2 years we were on just fruits and plants. We three ate like a monster almost finishing all of it. I mean we were hungry after all.

After discussing the past 2 years it was time to sleep. I said Lucario and Pikachu to head back in my room. They nodded and went straight up to my room.

"Mom... There's something I need to tell you" I said

"What is it?" She asked taking a sip from her tea.

I took the photo from my pocket that Dad gave me and i handed it mom. She looked at the photo as tears started rolling down her cheeks. I went ahead and hugged her as she just cried it all out on my t shirt.

"Mom I .... I met him..." I could manage to say.

"I know.....so ,he fulfilled his promise" she said sobbing

"What Promise?" I exclaimed.

"I guess...." She said wiping her tears off.

"It's time you know. Before leaving the house he promised you he'll meet you again.... You were too young back then to actually remember. I know he wasn't gonna come back I wanted to go with him but I had you to take care off. But you finally met him.... His promised is fullfilled. Thanks for bringing this photo back to me" she said.

I wanted to ask how did he die. If he was dead how did he train me? My mind was all over the place but I knew that time will reveal all my answers so , I need to wait. And now I have a quest to fullfil anyway given by him.

After consoling mom , I finally went in my room and just laid my back on the bed and drifted into sleep. Sure I was tired but I missed this soft bed aswell. Sleeping on rock in that hut kinda was uncomfortable.

"I wonder where are my friends right now" I thought before sleep drifted in.
