Lauren's POV
I was anxious to see Camila's reaction to the place I was taking her. We were walking in silence to a huge rock that divides the beach, and I can tell Camila wasn't understanding a thing.
- This way
I reached out to her and she held my hand, so I could guide her to a path I knew to get on top of the rock. It took us about 15 minutes to do so.
- Holy shit! It's beautiful!
Camila was staring the landscape. From here we can see the beach sand and part of the sea, illuminated by lampposts all over the beach front. It's also possible to see the beach street, where we passed before, and its crowded bars and restaurants, even in the cold.
- To me, better than the view is the sea's sound. - I sat on the rock and Camila sat by my side. We stayed in silence for some minutes, just listening and seeing the waves crashing on the rocks,
- You're right. This is amazing, Lauren.
- Wait until you see it on the daylight! It gets even better.
She was staring at me in a very intense way. The wind was getting colder, so I sat closer to her.
- How did you discover this place? This is so far from the start of the beach
- Well... some years ago I was having some nightmares too - I started saying and her eyes became even more intense - so one of these nights I got up, took my car and started to drive. When I realized I was already too far I started looking for a return, but then i saw this rock and thought it would be a good place to watch the sun rise.
- So you come here everytime you're in Miami? - she seemed really interested.
- No, just when I feel the need to.
A little more silence.
- On the past feel days I thought a lot about my future - Camila changed the subject - and that's always something I try to avoid.
- And what conclusions have you made? - I shrank a little more, it was very cold.
- That I need to make peace with my past so I can think about the future, you know? Yesterday when you said "the Camila I knew..." you got me thinking.
- Why?
- Because when I am with you... I feel like that Camila you were talking about. When I left fifth harmony I had to almost become someone else. It was my fault, of course. I chose to break every connection with you guys and start over, and it worked for some time... but now it's like I had a blackout. Like there's something missing.
She was really opening up to me. I can see she's really trying to make it up for the past.
Camila stared me intensely. Her hair flew in the cold wind, covering part of her face. She looked anxious. I didn't know what to say, so she kept talking.
- Since I saw you on that McDonalds everything changed, Lauren. You brought me back. Every moment I have with you reminds me of how carefree, light, happy life can be. It reminds me that those small details, like listening to the sea and driving around singing good music are everything we have.
"Memories are everything we have" - I thought, but didn't say it out loud.
- I don't know what to say... I had no idea you're feeling that way. I'd never think that you feel that comfortable with me. It's crazy because I've been feeling quite the same with you... Like time never passed.
She smiled to me.
- I said these exact same words to my mom earlier... "it's like time never passed"
